Quantitative Developer OVERVIEW Balyasny Asset Management is seeking a talented Quantitative Developer to join our New York-based Commodities Investment Team. In this role, you will design and build innovative programs and tools to solve complex business challenges, leveraging the latest technologies and advanced data science techniques. You'll gain exposure to a variety of business areas, platforms, and teams, and play a key role in driving our investment strategies forward.
RESPONSIBILITIES We are looking for creative, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented individuals who excel in collaborative environments. As a Quantitative Developer, you will:
- Develop and maintain software solutions in line with project and platform requirements.
- Leverage cutting-edge technologies to build scalable applications.
- Create data visualizations and dashboards using Plotly Dash and React.
- Analyze and model complex data structures and patterns.
- Architect, implement, and maintain infrastructure for backtesting and trading systematic strategies.
- Collaborate closely with teams across engineering, data, investments, finance, and other business units
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or can be in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field but with a strong development focus.
- 2+ years of experience working in a team environment and deploying production software.
- Strong proficiency in Python and its data analysis frameworks (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn), with the ability to test ideas and build research infrastructure.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Plotly Dash and React.
- Comfortable with stateless, containerized development and architecture.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Snowflake, and other cloud-based solutions.
- Knowledge of advanced database systems, streaming technologies, and API services.
- Familiarity with DevOps best practices and tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Terraform, Asana/JIRA).
- Eagerness to broaden your expertise beyond technical development, including learning about commodities and systematic trading.
Preferred but not required:- Experience as a quantitative developer in the financial industry, ideally within commodities.
- Background in Machine Learning and AI.
