Special Education Teacher - Tenure Track

The Department of Special Services is looking for a dynamic elementary school special education teacher. This position will support academic areas and social emotional needs of young learners. Candidates should have strong
communication skills for working with families and instructional assistants.Looking for someone who is creative, energetic and willing to work on a team. Special education teaching certificates required.
The following experiences are an integral part of the position:
- Determining appropriate instructional lessons through collected data
- Communicate effectively with parents about progress
- Teach students with special needs using various methods and materials
- Provide a learning environment using best practices for students with learning disabilities
- Model academic and social expectations
- Collect and analyze data gathered from various developmental appropriate sources and use the data to determine appropriate instructional strategies
- Attend IEP meetings along with department and school-based meetings
- Communicate with and obtain feedback from students in a manner that enhances student learning and understanding
- Manage the educational setting in a manner that promotes positive student behavior and a safe and healthy environment
- Recognize student diversity and create an atmosphere conducive to the promotion of positive student involvement and self-concept
- Demonstrate a willingness to examine and implement change as appropriate
- Work productively with colleagues, parents, and community members

Salary: Commensurate with education/experience (Range $60,525 - $110,722)
Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible for medical, prescription, and dental benefits. Sick, personal, family illness and bereavement day allotments are inlcuded.
