Full Job Description
We are looking to add an Electronics Test Engineer IIto our team. If you enjoy working in a startup environment and are passionate about developing critical test systems for leading-edge satellite, spacecraft, and aerospace communication systems, we would like to hear from you.

In this position, you will be responsible for designing and executing test plans and test equipment for space and airborne electronics. In the space industry, test engineering is a critical technical field that combines deep technical knowledge with extensive hands-on experience. Level II Test Engineers play a broad role that ranges from authoring test plans and procedures to designing test PCBs, along with spending plenty of time in the lab assembling and testing cutting-edge phased array systems and components.

The ideal candidate is strong in electronics and test theory as well as hands-on lab work. Industry exposure to measurement techniques, test architectures, and automation are preferred. The successful candidate will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to address company-wide hardware test needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design test plans for board-level electronic assemblies, working closely with design engineers.
  • Execute tests in the electronics lab, such as functional testing, digital signal integrity verification, or power converter control loop measurements.
  • Execute multi-board assembly testing, such as functional testing of a complex phased array system.
  • Design test fixtures or equipment, such as custom PCBs for test or integration purposes.
  • Plan integration of multiple prototype modules.
  • Assemble complex test setups, working with design engineers and technicians.
  • Troubleshoot and debug hardware issues.
  • Evaluate and document test results, presenting them to key stakeholders.

Successful candidates will require, as a minimum:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or similar from an accredited university.
  • 2 years of relevant industry or research experience covering several of the responsibilities listed.
  • Programming or scripting experience, such as Python, LabVIEW, SQL, MATLAB, or Embedded C.
  • Experience designing and executing test plans for custom board-level electronics.
  • Hands-on experience with lab instruments such as digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators, and vector signal analyzers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Industry experience in test engineering, such as internships.
  • Programming or scripting experience, such as Python.
  • Board-level hardware design.
  • Aerospace industry experience.
  • EMI/EMC test design and execution.
  • Understanding of RF and mixed-signal hardware (e.g. amplifiers, filters, ADCs/DACs, antennas).

CesiumAstro considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills. Full-time employment offers include company stock options and a generous benefits package including health, dental, vision, HSA, FSA, life, disability and retirement plans.
