Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic systems, focusing on power supplies using appropriate test equipment.
  • Support the development and assembly of prototype electronic equipment.
  • Replace and repair components and circuit boards in electronic systems as needed.
  • Provide operational support and troubleshooting for power supply and control systems.
  • Utilize schematics and mechanical assembly drawings in daily tasks.
  • Maintain safety practices essential to the role and ensure compliance.
  • Be available for overtime and emergency call-ins as necessary.

Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex power supply and other electronic systems using test equipment.
  • Support the development and construction of prototype power supplies and other electronic equipment.
  • Repair and replace components and circuit boards in electronic systems.
  • Support operations and troubleshoot power supply and control systems.
  • Proficient with schematics and mechanical assembly drawings.
  • Maintain and implement safety practices and procedures applicable to daily activities.
  • Overtime work, including emergency call-in, required.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus:
    - a BS degree in a technical field and 4 years work experience or;
    - a technical institute, Adult BOCES certification, AA degree in a technical field, CCI program completion at BNL plus 8 years experience or;
    - a technical high school certification program (eg. BOCES) and 9 years relevant work experience or;
    - 10 years relevant work experience.
  • Experience with fabrication, assembly, wiring, testing electronics systems.
  • Experience with analog/digital electronics, computers and standard test equipment (ex. function generators, oscilloscopes, multi-meters).
  • Ability to work from schematics, diagrams, and written procedures.
  • Strong computer skills with applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Basic machine shop skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group of technical staff.
  • Respond to Emergency Call-ins outside of normal working hours.

Environmental, Health & Safety Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Continuous walking / standing
  • Must be able to climb a ladder and work at heights up to 30 feet

  • Good vision and hand dexterity
  • Will be required to occasionally work off-hours, nights and/or weekends to support mission critical projects

This is a multi-level role and the full salary range for this position is $85,500.00 - $128,883.00 / year. You will be placed at the level and salary commensurate with your experience. Salary offers will be commensurate with the final candidate's qualification, education and experience and considered with the internal peer group.
