The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for an Interdisciplinary Electronics Engineer/Operations Research Analyst (NH-0855/1515-03) to work at Eglin AFB, FL.

Member will serve as an engineer and analyst for an electro-optics and radio frequency test and evaluation laboratory and field activity under a military systems command; responsibility is to perform test and evaluation on electronic systems and equipment and provide technical support, analysis and reporting to users of military systems and equipment. The activity is tasked with executing professional engineering and analyst responsibilities within the test plan. It involves initiating and conducting advanced scientific investigations in support of these systems. Major test and evaluation program areas at the activity include ground and air-based test and evaluation of laser, millimeter-wave, and infrared weapon systems. The facility is designed to accommodate all measurements in the electro-magnetic spectrum currently encompassed by an all DoD developed electro-optical weapon systems. Assignments pertain to test and evaluation responsibility for all instrumentation required to support airborne and ground measurements and test programs.

Salary: $76,463 - $118,204 without locality

The employee must obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.

The duties of this position require an advanced level of competence in basic science. The incumbent must possess an engineering degree from an institution with ABET accredited electrical engineering program; or, must have a bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline such as mathematics, computer science, one of the physical sciences or engineering. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

This position is designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program. Accordingly, to receive further consideration for this position, the employee must sign the Notice of Selection for Testing Designated Position (TDP) notice and agree to submit to urinalysis testing to determine his/her fitness for appointment to this sensitive position prior to the effective date of the action.

This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The employee must meet or be capable of meeting Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification requirements applicable to the career category designated on the position description within 24 months of assignment or secure an approved waiver. The employee must meet 80 hours of continuous learning requirements within the designated time-frame.

Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends and/or other holidays.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of professional engineering and mathematical concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply engineering theories, principles, and concepts to system design, architecture, and integration.

Knowledge of systems engineering issues and best practices sufficient to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of electronic systems or devices.

Knowledge of procedures required to test and evaluate EO/IR/MMW systems and subsystems.

Knowledge of other engineering disciplines and standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures.

Ability to analyze data and establish requirements for technical objectives and characteristics.

Ability to use computer applications in support of planning, designing, analysis, and reporting.
