Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is hiring an Electronics Engineer (various levels) for our Alexandria, VA location. You'll help drive the creation of specialized hardware devices and systems that push the boundaries of what's possible. Your work will span a wide landscape of technical challenges, from embedded board-level design to integrating complex COTS components into industrial-grade systems in support of Intelligence Community and Department of War customers.

No two days look the same. You'll dive into motion control, robotics, high-speed data pathways, high-power infrastructure, sensor fusion, microelectronics, PCB development, RF amplification, and cutting-edge communications technologies.   • Level 2: $85,102 - $121,573
  • Level 3: $104,336 - $149,052
  • Level 4: $129,536 - $185,051


Essential Job Responsibilities

As part of a tight-knit engineering team, you'll design and deliver advanced solutions supporting Intelligence Community and Department of War customers. You'll bring your experience in PCB design, cable harnessing, and electrical system architecture to life across projects ranging from precision microelectronics to powerful industrial systems.

Success in this role means being adaptable, communicating clearly, and bringing a high degree of initiative to every challenge. You'll work across multiple technical domains, helping shape mission-driven solutions backed by solid engineering principles and smart execution.

Minimum Qualifications

Levels:
  • Level 2: 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
  • Level 3: 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years experience with Masters in related field; or 0 years in experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Level 4: 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years experience with Masters in related field; or 4 years in experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.


Technical Qualifications:
  • Must possess at a minimum an active US Secret clearance
  • Hands-on experience in schematic capture (Altium Designer or equivalent E-CAD tools) and printed circuit board (PCB) layout
  • Ability to interpret electrical documentation, including schematics, data sheets, one-lines, and cable drawings
  • Proficiency with standard electrical test equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, power supplies, electronic loads, etc.)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, firmware, and cabling
  • Solid understanding of core circuit design concepts including first-order circuits, DC-DC converters, component selection, and analog filtering


Preferred Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Proven ability to operate independently with minimal guidance
  • Experience in hardware programming (Python, VHDL, C/C++, etc.)
  • Design experience across mixed analog/digital systems-microcontrollers, FPGAs, converters, sensors, and more
  • Hands-on assembly experience, including soldering
  • Comfortable working on compressed timelines (QRC)
  • Familiarity with electrical industry regulations, standards, and best practices
  • Experience with low-volume design for manufacturing (DFM)


Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
