Senior Technical Specialist & Chief Engineering Consultant (Avionics & Strategic Weapons)

Serve as the preeminent technical authority and Chief Engineering Consultant shaping the future of organic software sustainment for the nation's premier strategic strike assets. In this high-consequence role, you will exercise ultimate technical authority over product designs, software architectures, and advanced engineering solutions for systems including the B-1, B-21, B-52, MQ-9, the Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM), and the next-generation Long Range Stand Off (LRSO) weapon.

What you will accomplish:

- Ultimate Technical Authority: Guide multi-million-dollar program trajectories and preserve the Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E) baseline as the primary consultant to Higher Headquarters and industry leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

- Technical Authority & Leadership: Provide senior-level technical leadership, specialized software/hardware systems expertise, and strategic resource-allocation guidance across the Scientists & Engineers (S&E) workforce.

- Avionics & Weapons OFP Delivery: Architect, optimize, and deliver production-ready Operational Flight Programs (OFPs) and ATE software for strategic bombers, remotely piloted aircraft, and advanced standoff cruise missiles.

- Advanced Technology & Sustainment: Pioneer advanced engineering solutions for System Program Offices (SPOs) and the Rapid Sustainment Office (RSO), leveraging AI/ML and virtualization to modernize aging and next-generation aircraft.

- Supervisory & Advisory Functions: Exercise technical oversight and supervisory mentorship, delivering functional troubleshooting, diagnostic support, and specialized training to warfighters and joint program offices.

Recruitment Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

1. Mastery-level professional knowledge of electronics engineering and computer science concepts, theories, principles, and practices and working knowledge of other disciplines, such as aerospace, industrial, mechanical, and/or electrical engineering; of a broad range of engineering standards, precedents, methods, and techniques to ensure work in compliance with regulations and standards; and the applicability of such knowledge to the full range of duties concerned with design, production, and maintenance of Operational Flight Programs, Automated Test Systems, Test Program Set Software, and other systems used to support the warfighter and weapons systems program offices.

2. Expert knowledge of development testing and evaluation sufficient to apply experimental theories and new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.

3. Knowledge of integrated air-vehicles, ground systems, and support equipment sufficient to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of electronic systems or devices.

4. Knowledge of the principles of planning and program management; standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; and other engineering disciplines.

5. Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches, and to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes.

6. Skilled at presenting complex information and educating others to support collaboration and teamwork.

7. Ability to apply both academic and learned concepts and methods to solve complex problems as well as conceive new ideas and methodologies for approaching problems to improve project, program and organizational performance.
