Summary:

Norsat International Inc. is seeking an Electronics Design Engineer to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will support the design, development, testing, and production of advanced electronic hardware solutions used in satellite communications and networking products.

Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will contribute throughout the product lifecycle-from concept and prototyping through validation, manufacturing, and ongoing product support. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on electronics development, technical problem-solving, and delivering reliable products in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do:

Design & Development
  • Develop detailed schematics, printed circuit board (PCB) layouts, fabrication drawings, and assembly documentation for new and existing products.
  • Assemble, test, and troubleshoot PCBAs and electronic subsystems.
  • Prepare technical documentation including specifications, procedures, test plans, reports, and modification instructions.
  • Research, evaluate, and select electronic components and OEM products based on performance, availability, reliability, and cost.
  • Support development activities to ensure products meet functional and performance requirements.

Product Support
  • Provide manufacturing support by investigating and tracking technical issues, updating documentation, and implementing product improvements.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure product quality and component accuracy.
  • Support product milestones and deliverables throughout the development process.
  • Maintain quality documentation, including issue reports, waivers, and corrective actions.
  • Assist with the introduction of internally developed and third-party products into production.
  • Work closely with Production teams to troubleshoot component failures, testing issues, and product-related concerns.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement focused on product performance, quality, cost optimization, and efficiency.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.


What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 4-7 years of experience in electronics design, hardware development, product development, or a related technical role.
  • Experience developing schematics and PCB designs using Altium Designer or similar software tools.
  • Understanding of analog and digital electronic circuits.
  • Experience with hardware testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and validation activities.
  • Familiarity with electronic laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and network analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of product development and manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with RF, wireless communications, telecommunications, or satellite products is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
