Job Description:

Responsible for generating designs for the automated functional testing of PCBA's and sub racks in a manufacturing environment, and supporting the integration and validation of Simulators and Second Line Maintenance Devices (SLMD's. Work closely with peers to design complete simulator solutions used to test software. The position also requires the maintenance and troubleshooting of automated test equipment both locally in Toronto and at our contract manufacturers.

Key Accountabilities
  • Develop both hardware and software test solutions to be used in a manufacturing environment based on a Test Specification in a timely manner to meet production schedules
  • Utilize strong trouble shooting skills to debug and return to service automated test equipment that has failed
  • Use strong communications skills to work with contract manufacturers around the world, support and coordinate the release of new production test solutions and troubleshoot existing test solutions.
  • Apply strong technical skills to support the integration of the hardware and software phase of a simulator and SLMD during the validation phase to ensure compliance with requirements
  • Responsible for maintaining legacy test systems including simulators, and developing cost effective new test solutions for legacy hardware where the legacy test system has exceeded its useful life, to support customer repairs and ongoing spare equipment orders
  • As part of deploying and troubleshooting production test equipment, responsible for ommunicating with stakeholders the status and gating activities for planning and executing hardware delivery schedules
  • Support the design of simulators including requirements review, design generation, design reviews and release


Key Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electronic hardware and system design in the rail, transportation or similar safety critical industries
  • University bachelor's degree in electrical, computer engineering, mechatronics or relevant degree
  • Must have a thorough working knowledge and experience using LabView and TestStand software and is familiar with NI equipment
  • Have scripting knowledge using Python and Visual Basic
  • English language fluency is mandatory
  • Well-developed writing skills to prepare effective reports, documents, etc. in a clear and concise format
  • Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills needed to deal confidently, courteously, and correctly with both internal and external stakeholders, and customers at any level


Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineering designation Desirable
  • Master's degree in electrical or computer engineering


Total Compensation Range (Base Salary + Annual Incentive plan) : $90,000 - $128,000
