Overview

We are inviting applications for an Electronic Technician and competent team player with a strong mechanical aptitude and a clear interest in all aspects of building and property maintenance. The incumbent shall comply with all Health and Safety Policies and Practices for this position and the workplace.

This role will pay a salary of $50.06 (per CBA).

Benefits as per the union agreement.

This position will remain open until September 11, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.
  • Diagnosis and problem-solving of Information Technology (IT) and Audio related issues.
  • Help provide show power (Tie in/Tie out) and any other event-related electrical needs.
  • Facility in-site review and inspections with onsite and provincial electrical inspectors.
  • Operate and maintain hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, trowels, chisels, files, and measuring instruments
  • Performs preventative maintenance on kitchen, stewarding, and service equipment
  • Orders parts and materials necessary to complete minor repairs and fabrications as required with approval by Director of Operations or Operations Manager
  • Assists contractors on equipment repairs such as refrigeration, plumbing, and fire controls as required
  • Experience with any or all of the following: Sky Jack, Forklift, Boom Lift, and Fall Arrest.
  • Performs housekeeping duties such as cleaning the workshop, tools, power tools, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the operations manager.


Qualifications

  • Requires a minimum of 2-4 years of related experience.
  • Current up-to-date electrician's license.
  • Current up-to-date tickets for Sky Jack, Forklift, Boom Lift, and Fall Arrest.
  • Ability to deal with contractors and fellow employees in a courteous and tactful manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork, and cooperation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work from verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be able to accurately interpret sketches, diagrams, and building drawings.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, including proficiency in the use of tools and equipment associated with most building repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills and be adept at troubleshooting power tool and maintenance equipment-related problems.
  • Must have a general working knowledge of Audio systems and Information Systems.
  • Must have basic knowledge of all major building systems (HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, lighting control, fire alarm, fire protection, security) and a good understanding of where the major equipment components are located in the building.
  • Knowledge of Building Codes and Municipal bylaws as they relate to our property.
  • Exhibit a professional appearance and comply with all uniform requirements.
  • Maintain a regular and reliable level of attendance and punctuality.
  • Able to multitask and perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
