Job Description:

The Electronic Component Products & Quality Division is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead engineering managers, integration partners, and business stakeholders in the development, integration, and lifecycle management of Caterpillar's electronic component portfolio. This role is responsible for accelerating delivery of high-quality electronic components and platforms while ensuring operational excellence through an end-to-end product quality focus across the development value chain.

Operating in a dynamic and highly complex environment, the Senior Engineering Manager provides strategic leadership to drive alignment across component, integration partners, manufacturing, quality, supplier, and commercial organizations. Success in this role requires the ability to bring clarity to ambiguity, and balance technology innovation, product quality, customer value, and business commitments.

The incumbent is accountable for developing high-performing leaders and teams, establishing strategic direction, and ensuring execution excellence across global engineering and support organizations. This leader will play a critical role in shaping future electronic component capabilities while enabling scalable, reliable, and compliant products that support Caterpillar's long-term technology strategy.

What You Will Do:

  • Leader of leaders in electronic component development and product quality
  • Influence, evolve, and educate the broader electronic component development and integration organization and supply base partners, driving product/process development risk management excellence
  • Guide product teams to create and manage successful lifecycle product roadmaps
  • Develop and manage operating budgets, staffing plans, and team empowerment to achieve business objectives, with emphasis on lifecycle management of high-quality components/platforms.
  • Develop and lead the execution of key performance metrics across the organization
  • Drive world class product quality results through Design for Excellence for defect prevention, V&V activities, manufacturing audits for defect containment and CPI (Continuous Product Improvement) best practices.
  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships and relationships with suppliers to meet current and future product needs.
  • Ensure that products meet regulatory, environmental, and cybersecurity compliance requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Champion the adoption of emerging technologies, digital engineering practices, AI-enabled development tools, and data-driven decision-making to improve development velocity, quality, and efficiency.

Customer/Market Focus: Understanding of the importance of remaining aware of shifting market priorities and ability to respond to internal and external customer needs in a manner that consistently adds value.

Communicating for Impact: Knowledge of the concepts, tools and techniques for effective listening and communicating; ability to apply these theories to receive, transmit and accurately interpret information and ideas to influence others in various situations.

Top Candidates Will Have:

  • Engineering degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience leading teams of 20+ people in a globally distributed team.
  • Experience with electronic component products, component integration and product quality management.
  • Experience with Component Product Development for automotive, construction or mining Industry.
  • Experience with business plan management, including budgeting, actuals tracking, and capital processes.
  • Supplier management experience for a portfolio of suppliers and component types.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, audits and controls, experience with operational excellence throughout the product development value stream, defect containment and risk assessment and mitigation through leading indicators.


Additional Details:

  • This position requires the candidate to work full-time onsite in Mossville, IL or Dallas, TX.
  • Domestic relocation is available for candidates.
  • 25% travel is required for this role.
  • This position does not offer visa sponsorship.

Summary Pay Range:

$172,630.00 - $258,950.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
