Full Job Description
Position: Electro Mechanic (Nights)
Location: Elk Grove Village
Shift: 5:45 PM - 6:15 AM | 12-hour continental shift (3 days one week, 4 days the following, off every other weekend; overtime may be required)
Pay Rate: $37.43 - $39.85/hour (+$2.00/hour shift differential depending on experience)

Retention Bonus:
To reward long-term commitment, this position offers a $2,000 retention bonus, paid as follows:
  • $1,000 after successfully completing 90 days of employment
  • $1,000 after successfully completing 180 days of employment

Please note: This is a retention bonus and is not paid at the time of hire.

Summary Description

While reporting to the Plant Engineer or Maintenance Supervisor, this role is responsible for performing proactive maintenance tasks necessary to provide high-quality, efficient, and timely shipment of TOPPAN products. Safety, quality, productivity, and strong work ethic are central to the TOPPAN culture.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Understand and follow plant safety rules including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and safe machine operation
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, specifications, and technical data
  • Work on motors, contactors, and relays using a multimeter to verify component functionality
  • Operate advanced shop equipment such as band saws, mills, and lathes
  • Maintain chillers, process pumps, compressors, ink pumps, and glue pumps
  • Analyze and resolve mechanical and electrical equipment issues
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical controls and PLC systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, routine repairs, and calibration with minimal downtime
  • Diagnose root causes of production equipment failures and determine best corrective action
  • Document parts used and repairs completed in CMMS
  • Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory and parts room organization
  • Perform repairs on plant production and facility equipment
  • Participate in TOPPAN's Global Performance System (GPS) activities including audits, pillar teams, and near misses
  • Maintain safe operational conditions of all production and related equipment
  • Use required personal protective equipment
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • You have industrial manufacturing experience or military experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining manufacturing equipment
  • Industry experience with blown film, sheet extrusion, flexographic printing, lamination, slitting, or related ancillary equipment is preferred
  • You have PLC troubleshooting experience and knowledge of industrial motor controls
  • You can operate a forklift
  • You are comfortable with lifts, ladders, kneeling, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • You can work independently while managing multiple tasks during off-shift hours
  • You are comfortable with rotating schedules, overtime, and weekend work
