Electrification Business Communications Leader for Canada

This position reports to: Global Head of Communications, ABB Installation Products

Your role and responsibilities

This is dual-hat role that leads communications for ABB Electrification business communications in Canada as well as local lead for Installation Products Division communications.

This position collaborates with Commercial Leaders, Sales, Product Management, Marketing and Communications to ensure proactive and effective communications across multiple channels and stakeholders.

ABB Electrification business role
• Member of the local Electrification leadership team.
• Owns ABB Electrification communication plan in country including the editorial calendar & Electrification narrative locally for trade media, digital communications and thought leadership. Collaborates with Country Communications for any Tier 1 or financial media relations requirements.
• Leads trade media relations and content for press releases and social media channels.
• Owns content for communications channels reaching broad public, such as social, websites. Reviews for approval paid and earned media, including advertising.
• Owns the application of the ABB brand locally and awareness campaigns. (Not lead gen)
• Localization of global thought leadership or local development of thought leadership supporting division priorities.
• Leads localization of communications campaigns, including ensuring quality/brand/narrative check when two or more divisions are involved.
• Leads communications efforts for cross divisional (2 or more) events, trade shows and conferences. Build cross-business area and functional teams to contribute to effort.
• Oversight & process for Electrification employee communications, point of contact for factories.
• Ensures positioning and impact of the electrification related content in local external and internal communications channels. Follows global KPIs to track and improve communications effectiveness across various media and channels. Maintain effective measurement and monitoring workflow for their area of scope.
• Owns the Electrification business area communications budget for the country and ensures transparency and support across Electrification for the budget.
• Enhances skills and talent management as applicable.
• Creates a community of Electrification Communicators in country. Division specific role.
• Develops local comm plan with local Marketing & Sales leadership in line with division priorities and global communication plans, including digital marketing.
• Leads communications locally for the lead division in country for Canada ABB Installation Products.
• Where no EL Leader in country - Point of contact for EL manufacturing sites for initiatives.

Qualifications for the role
• Degree in communications or related field and minimum 10 years of experience in the field of Communications in a B2B environment (ideally technical/industrial environment).
• Proven experience in developing and executing strategic communication across all channels.
• Bilingual English and French Canadian with written and spoken fluency.
• Possess a solution-focused and self-starter mindset, combined with strong written and spoken communication skills. Effective storyteller.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with on-time delivery.
• Ability to coach and advise leaders.
• Establishes quality via KPIs and can build and deliver improvement plans when needed. Has a continuous improvement mindset.
• Team player who thrives by contributing to the success of the team and the business and can influence and work successfully in a matrixed organization.
• Ability to travel and work flexible and/or fluctuating work hours as needed.
