Full Job Description
Our Electrical Superintendent is a critical member of the Michigan Can Lines team. This role will lead a team of Electrical Process Technicians in a production environment. You will work closely with the Engineering Manager to ensure the facility is running efficiently and effectively in all areas. Responsible for all electrical tasks relating to facility and electrical maintenance and improvement.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of electrical projects from inception to completion and maintenance of existing electrical systems
  • Lead the planning and design of electrical systems
  • Supervise a team of electrical process technicians and other trades people and coordinate their activities
  • Ensure safety of all workers and that work complies with building codes and regulations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve plant wide electrical issues as they arise
  • Monitor project progress and conduct quality inspections to ensure proper installation
  • Review and interpret blueprints, schematics and other technical documentation
  • Maintain daily logbook
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rectify and report of automation control systems and controls applications via the utilization of formal problem-solving methods and diagnostic tools/software
  • Set-up, calibrate and commission a wide variety of instrumentation that interfaces to automation & control systems.
  • Implement complex PLC program content and configurations.
  • Install and troubleshoot facility power distribution and lighting services
  • Drive quality assurance principles to ensure operation, consistency and quantification of enhancement of manufacturing and process applications.
  • Perform general electrical work and other duties as assigned.


Requirements:
  • Possess a minimum of 10 years' job-related experience
  • Understanding of safety procedures required to work on automation equipment in an industrial environment including strong knowledge in electrical safety circuits/systems.
  • Industrial networking knowledge
  • Experience with HMI, VSD, and PLC configuration and programming
  • Automation knowledge (Preferably Rockwell) - Programmable Logic Controllers, Variable Speed Drives, Human Machine Interface & hardware and software tools
  • Ability to wire, assemble, and layout electrical/electronic systems
  • Prior experience operating equipment including forklift, scissor/boom lift, etc.
  • Understanding of Mathematical and Electrical/electronic principles and theories
  • Experience with single and three phase circuits and AC and DC motor and control circuits.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Experience with program functionality in ladder logic
  • Instrumentation knowledge - instrumentation used to measure flow, temperature, pressure etc. and how they transmit measurement data


Working Conditions:

This position is exposed to occupational hazards, including but not limited to, chemicals; high noise levels; physical obstacles; high, narrow and confined areas. Employees are required to wear PPE including but not limited to appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices.
