Position Summary

The Electrical & PLC Engineer is responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing electrical control systems and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) that support the continuous paper mill operations at our Reading, PA and Modena, PA sites. This role ensures maximum equipment reliability, process efficiency, and safety compliance across production areas such as pulping, paper machines, finishing, and utilities.

Responsibilities
  • Design, program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC systems (e.g., Rockwell Automation)
  • Support and improve Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI)
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical and automation issues in production equipment
  • Develop and modify control logic, ladder diagrams, and function block programming
  • Lead and support capital projects, including system upgrades, installations, and commissioning
  • Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to reduce downtime and improve reliability
  • Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards (NFPA, OSHA), and mill policies
  • Maintain accurate documentation of control systems, wiring diagrams, and software backups
  • Support predictive and preventive maintenance programs

Qualifications

Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $102,600-$176,755

The range disclosed complies with applicable state and local pay transparency laws. Offers within this range will be determined by considering relevant factors including education, experience, and internal alignment. This position may also be eligible for annual performance bonuses and other incentive programs.
