Full Job Description
Leidos' Defense Systems Manufacturing Space Hardware Systems is seeking an Electrical/Mechanical Assembly Technician to join our Space Hardware team in Huntsville, Alabama. The ideal candidate will thrive in learning environments that encourage leadership and technical growth. Primary Responsibilities • Ensure that proper documentation is made on training record for training received, and signed by Lead, Supervisor, or Manager. • Candidate must have experience working with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and technicians to develop a build strategy and identify any problems that could occur during assembly. • Candidates will be required to have knowledge of the tools used for assembly, integration, and testing (Pull Test machines, Data Loggers, Vacuum Overs, UV Cleaner, Boring Machines, and Crane and Rigging operations) and the proper techniques required to use these tools. Experience reading mechanical assembly drawings, shop work instructions, and other manufacturing documentation. • Help monitor inventory and supplies and ensure correct usage. • Understand process and quality procedures and communicate them to less experienced team members. • Communicate with supervisors, managers, and quality regarding issues affecting quality of productivity. • Assists in the development of bills of material and labor cost estimates for proposals and budgeting. • Performs other related duties as assigned by management. • Comply with all Company policies, procedures, and regulations. Basic Qualifications • High school diploma/GED with at least 5 years of aerospace manufacturing experience in electrical/mechanical assembly experience or relevant experience. • Skillful knowledge of power tools, hand tools, and assembling structures with the ability to learn the integration of large structures for DoD or aerospace is required. • Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. • Must be adept with hand tools including drills, grinders, wrenches and screwdrivers, impact rivet guns, rivet puller. • Must be capable of reading and interpreting drawings, specifications and work instructions. • Must have the aptitude to learn and utilize production work orders, documents, drawings, specifications, and written or oral instructions to perform tasks necessary to meet production requirements. • This job operates in a machine shop environment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for half of the time and the rest of the time standing/walking. This role routinely uses standard hand tools. Use of PPE is required. • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with staff. • Frequently required to deburr and grind, with multiple types of hand tools. • Candidate will be required to move, reach, lift, feel, inspect, detect, and handle metal parts and perform other duties as assigned by manager. • Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance OR meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
