Join AWS as a Electrical Hardware Development Engineer to support the development of next-generation cloud infrastructure hardware. Drive innovation in complex designs utilizing rust and angular frameworks, working with world-class engineers in our dedicated product development lab in Arlington, VA.

This role will sit in our new headquarters in Northern Virginia, where Amazon will invest $2.5 billion dollars, occupy 4 million square feet of energy efficient office space, and create at least 25,000 new full-time jobs. Our employees and the neighboring community will also benefit from the associated investments from the Commonwealth including infrastructure updates, public transportation improvements, and new access to Reagan National Airport.
This position requires that the candidate selected must be a US Citizen and currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph or commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Key job responsibilities
- Participate in system-level hardware architecture decisions and technical requirements
- Support new product introduction (NPI) processes with Senior Hardware Engineers
- Partner with FPGA/firmware teams to define system interfaces and requirements
A day in the life
You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of hardware, software, and FPGA engineers in our dedicated product development lab. Your responsibilities will span supporting innovative solutions, participating in design reviews, troubleshooting prototypes, and providing technical support to team members.
About the team
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related fields
- 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience, or experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair
- Experience in motherboard design, PCB design including schematic capture, stackup and circuit board layout
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Experience in high-volume manufacturing operations or sourcing environments
- 3+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience, or experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair
- US Government Security clearance of TS / SCI with Polygraph
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
