Objective / Engagement Overview
EE FA technicians will work with Engineers to perform lab services focused on electrical fault
isolation, sample preparation, metrology, and data reporting. The team is a fast-paced, hands-on work environment where technicians are expected to be self-motivated and able to multi-task while executing experiment plans.
Reliable and consistent communication and management of tasks is required to succeed in the role.
In Scope
• Lab Organization and Services:
• Receives, sorts, catalogues, and labels samples for incoming requests.
• Arranges sample hand-offs and returns with internal and external partners.
• Maintains lab organization: samples are stored properly, critical supplies are stocked,
workspaces are tidy, and tools are operational.
• Tool & process development: Works in partnership with Engineers to support new tool bring-
up, process documentation, and lab capability improvements.
• Analysis
• Receives experiment plans and/or SOPs from Engineers or requesting teams.
• Prepares samples for analysis in the EE lab and for partnering teams, performing delicate
manual work under a microscope (soldering, sanding, probing), and operating sample prep
equipment as directed.
• Performs electrical fault isolation and related measurements as needed to pursue the
investigation, utilizing and reviewing circuit schematics and layouts to execute the FA plan.
• Conducts analytical testing using benchtop/handheld electrical tools (DMM, power
supplies), microprobing, parametric analysis (curve tracing), LIT, and TDR.
• Compiles data, captures high-quality optical imaging/microscopy, documents findings, and
provides draft summaries to Engineers for interpretation, conclusions, and final review.
• Verifies that all analyses are completed satisfactorily and follows up as necessary.
Skills
• Core Requirements:
• B.S. degree in Engineering or Science preferred (Electrical Engineering, Material Science,
Physics, etc.).
• Knowledge of electrical fault isolation and metrology methods, understanding of circuits,
and ability to read schematics and circuit layouts.
• Proficient with benchtop and handheld electrical tools (DMM, power supplies, etc.).
• Experience in handling and preparing samples for analyses, with a strong preference for
direct hands-on experience with sample prep and/or probing delicate samples under a
microscope.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to compile detailed technical
information and data into summary reports for engineering review.
• Knowledge of safe work practices in a lab environment, and experience working with lab
equipment and chemicals.
• Familiarity with analytical techniques including:
• LIT
• TDR
• Micro Probing & Parametric Analysis
• Waveform Acquisition & Signal Analysis (Oscilloscopes)
• Visual Inspection/Optical Microscopy
• IR Imaging/LSM, OBIRCH, EMMI
• CT, 2D X-ray, and CSAM
• SEM/EDS/FIB
Requirements
• B.S. degree in Engineering or Science (preferred) in relevant field
• Electrical Engineering, Ma terial Science, Physics, etc.
• Required to be on-site, Monday - Friday, in Cupertino, CA
Salary Range : $70,000-$125,000 a year.
