Position DescriptionThe Project Estimator Manager contributes to the overall success of CR Meyer and its heavy industrial customers through effectively managing estimates provided for heavy industrial construction projects related to electrical services provided. Works with Project Managers, Design/Build team members, owners, business partners and other interested parties to ensure estimates are prepared in an accurate and timely manner.
- Direct the preparation of complete electrical estimates for industrial construction projects ranging from electrical maintenance contracts to large capital projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work and contract documents to determine project requirements.
- Oversee quantity takeoffs, labor calculations, material pricing, equipment costs, subcontractor pricing, and indirect cost development.
- Develop preliminary conceptual budgets and detailed estimates at varying levels of project definition.
- Responsible for the set-up, use and maintenance of estimating technology, software, workflows, and reporting systems.
- Compare estimated costs to actual project performance.Maintain historical cost databases and productivity benchmarks.
- Ensure estimates accurately reflect labor productivity, scheduling requirements, construction means and methods and market conditions.
- Review all final estimates for completeness, accuracy, and profitability before bid submission.
- Ensures all electrical estimates and proposals align with company standards, customer requirements and project risks.
- Lead pre-bid meetings and assist in project pursuit decisions.
- Ensure estimating resources to meet bid deadlines.
- Conduct estimate reviews and provide technical guidance to estimators.
- Lead, coach, and provide guidance to electrical estimating staff.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and customer service.
- Participate in project turnover meetings and provide estimating support to project teams.
- Leads by personal example and is a strong advocate for the CR Meyer Mission-Vision-Values and Code of Conduct.
- Wears all assigned PPE and observes CR Meyer safety guidelines at all times.
- Due to project deadlines and demands, regular and reliable attendance is required.
- Completes all related paperwork in a timely manner.
- Represents the CR Meyer brand in a positive, professional manner at all times.
- All other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible electrical estimating experience, preferably with an emphasis in heavy industrial projects required.
- Solid knowledge of Accubid and Microsoft Office Suite software preferred. Ability to learn and utilize other CR Meyer software.
- Ability to complete all CR Meyer training and perform job duties within safety training & guidelines.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and comply with CR Meyer's Drug & Alcohol Policy and Program.
- Must have a valid driver's license, insurable driving history and ability to operate a motor vehicle following all traffic laws and safe, courteous driving habits.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
- Ability to travel to various project sites within the United States required.
