A Snapshot of Your Day

The Electrical Systems engineering team is responsible for the specification, selection, design review, cost calculation and quality control, for simple and combined cycle power plant equipment including, but not limited to: Power Control Centers, Static Excitation Systems, Static Frequency Converters, Protective Relaying Systems, Low Voltage Power Distribution Systems.

The successful applicant for this position will work in an international and inter-disciplinary team setting and will be required to design, specify, and implement the assigned electrical equipment in a self-reliant work manner. Tasks include collaboration with customers, vendors, various engineering disciplines, bid management and supply chain management to develop and implement technical solutions ensuring the highest customer satisfaction and successful project implementation by Siemens Energy.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Contribute to the development of electrical concepts and system designs for reference power plants and their project specific adaptation serving proposal activities and new unit project implementations.
  • Design and specification of electrical components in scope of the team specifically for generator and transformer protection systems and generator terminal equipment such as current transformers, neutral tie and line side enclosures, and generator neutral grounding.
  • Creation, review, release and maintenance of technical design tools and engineering documentation for the previously mentioned equipment.
  • Support the development, maintenance and tracking of costs and cost calculation tools used by bid management for bidding of power plant projects.
  • Provide technical support to bid management during proposal activities.
  • Provide technical support to supply chain management to facilitate supplier development and supplier/product qualification activities.
  • Contribute to cost value analyses including the development, implementation and tracking of design-to-cost measures.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of global engineering processes, tools, and documentation.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or higher combined with a minimum of 5 years experience in the technologies of electrical components used in power plants and/or high voltage transmission systems.
  • Experience in the design and specification of current and voltage transformers, relay protection and control systems including the settings calculation and parametrization for various manufacturers like SEL, Siemens or Beckwith.
  • Experience in generator terminal equipment like neutral grounding equipment, and neutral tie and line-side enclosures is beneficial.
  • Proficient in the interpretation and application of relevant internation and local standards governing the design and installation of electrical components including IEC, IEEE, VDE, EN etc.
  • Ability to focus on tasks requiring attention to detail such as design calculations for electrical systems and to handle multiple tasks in parallel while meeting high quality standards and set timelines.
  • Excellent team player and communicator; fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • Ability to travel internationally for short durations if required (up to approximately 10%).
  • Experience in interpreting technical contract requirements, customer negotiations, or commissioning of components in the scope of the team is preferred.
