Full Job Description
General Profile:

Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of electrical engineering expertise, with strong application in cost optimization, supply chain alignment, and product lifecycle improvement.

Interprets internal and external business drivers-including cost, supply risk, manufacturability, and performance-and applies best practices to deliver value-driven engineering solutions.

Solves complex electrical and system-level problems by balancing design intent, reliability, cost, and supply chain considerations. Takes a broad, systems-level perspective to identify innovative and scalable solutions.

Works independently with guidance only in the most complex situations.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve complex electrical and electronic issues across systems, subsystems, and components, with emphasis on cost reduction, supply resilience, and reliability
  • Lead or execute value engineering initiatives including cost reduction (CR), multi-sourcing, electrical redesign, and supplier transitions
  • Develop, design, or modify electrical architectures, schematics, PCBAs, harnessing, and power/control systems for complex applications
  • Partner with strategic suppliers to develop, qualify, and optimize electrical components and assemblies, including PCBAs, power supplies, and cable/harness solutions
  • Apply Design for Cost (DfC), Design for Manufacturability (DfM), and Design for Supply Chain (DfSC) principles to electrical designs and assemblies
  • Support and lead ECO evaluation and execution, ensuring design changes deliver cost benefit while managing risk and operational impact
  • Support NPI cost evaluation and design convergence, ensuring electrical designs meet cost, performance, and manufacturability targets
  • Work cross-functionally with Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Engineering, Program Management, and Manufacturing teams to drive end-to-end value improvements across systems
  • Define, coordinate, and execute electrical testing and validation, including system-level performance, power distribution, grounding/shielding, and reliability testing
  • Perform engineering analysis such as power analysis, signal integrity, thermal-electrical interactions, and component selection optimization
  • Generate and review electrical specifications, test plans, and technical documentation to ensure clarity and alignment across stakeholders
  • Contribute to value tracking activities, including cost savings validation, PPV tracking, and value opportunity identification
  • Communicate complex technical trade-offs (cost, performance, reliability) clearly and influence decisions across engineering and business functions

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 7-10 years of experience in electrical engineering, including electronic systems, power systems, or controls
  • Strong experience in areas such as circuit design, PCB layout, power systems, grounding/shielding, and component selection
  • Demonstrated application of Design for Excellence (DfX), particularly cost and manufacturability
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and interface with suppliers on technical solutions

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in value engineering, cost reduction, or supply chain engineering environments
  • Knowledge of Applied Materials / Varian product lifecycle, including NPI, ECO processes, and supplier engagement
  • Experience with power systems, process power, controls, and complex electrical subsystems
  • Familiarity with semiconductor capital equipment and high-reliability electronic systems
  • Experience in multi-sourcing, should-cost analysis, and supplier qualification
  • Strong understanding of system-level integration (electrical with mechanical and controls)
