Electrical Engineer - SETA Support
Location: Los Angeles Air Force Base; in person/hybrid. No remote
Job Type: Full-Time

Clearance: Active Top Secret
Citizenship: U.S. Citizen
Travel: Occasional travel may be required (10%)
Salary Range: $110,000 + annually*

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support to Space Systems Command, Space Sensing Directorate (SSC/SN), located at Los Angeles Air Force Base. The selected candidate will support the acquisition, development, integration, test, launch, operations, sustainment, and modernization of space-based missile warning, missile tracking, missile defense, battlespace awareness, and technical intelligence capabilities.

The engineer will provide enterprise-level systems engineering and integration support across space, ground, communications, and mission-support segments, including Next-Generation Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) GEO and Polar systems, FORGE, RGS, Resilient Missile Warning Track, and related OPIR sensor capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide electrical engineering and systems engineering support throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
  • Analyze spacecraft, payload, ground-system, communications, sensor, power, avionics, and electronic subsystems.
  • Support requirements development, decomposition, validation, verification, and traceability.
  • Evaluate electrical interfaces, technical baselines, specifications, design documentation, and integration plans.
  • Support system architecture, interface control, trade studies, and performance assessments.
  • Review contractor engineering products, including drawings, schematics, interface control documents, test plans, verification reports, and technical analyses.
  • Support system integration, test and evaluation, launch integration, early-orbit checkout, on-orbit operations, and transition to sustainment.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks, issues, discrepancies, anomalies, and system dependencies.
  • Participate in Systems Requirements Reviews, Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Engineering Review Boards, Configuration Control Boards, IPTs, and technical interchange meetings.
  • Support electrical power, avionics, RF, signal processing, telemetry, command and control, data transport, and sensor-to-ground interfaces.
  • Coordinate with government, contractor, operational, and mission-partner organizations.
  • Prepare technical assessments, risk documentation, briefings, decision papers, status reports, and acquisition documentation.
  • Support reliability, maintainability, mission assurance, cybersecurity, resiliency, and safety assessments.
  • Contribute to integrated master schedule reviews, critical-path analysis, readiness assessments, and corrective-action plans.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant electrical engineering, aerospace, space systems, defense, or systems engineering experience.
  • Experience with electrical or electronic systems, spacecraft, payloads, ground systems, communications systems, sensors, or mission-processing systems.
  • Experience with requirements management, systems integration, verification and validation, technical reviews, and risk management.
  • Knowledge of engineering processes, configuration management, interface control, and DoD acquisition practices.
  • Strong technical writing, briefing, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting Space Force, Air Force, SSC/SN, missile warning, OPIR, SBIRS, missile tracking, or space-based sensor programs.
  • Experience with spacecraft electrical power systems, avionics, RF systems, communications, signal processing, telemetry, command and control, or sensor fusion.
  • Familiarity with OPIR, SBIRS, Next-Generation GEO or Polar systems, FORGE, or related mission systems.
  • Familiarity with Cameo, DOORS, Jira, Confluence, eMASS, or similar engineering and program-management tools.
  • Knowledge of applicable DoD policies and standards, including AFI 63-101/20-101, AFI 63-1201, MIL-STD-882E, NIST SP 800-160, and related acquisition guidance.
  • Experience supporting technical leadership, supervising personnel, or leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
