Electrical Engineer

Location: Moriarty, NM
Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt

About the Position:

As an Electrical Engineer at Sceye, you will play a pivotal role in developing and integrating cutting-edge hardware and software components for our new airships. We're looking for someone with a strong background in electrical engineering, computer engineering, and hands-on experience with embedded systems development and development of systems for the demanding stratospheric environment. Your contributions will be key to ensuring our systems operate seamlessly and efficiently.

What You'll Do:
  • Design electrical systems to access an array of sensors, and effect a range of actuators depending on system requirements.
  • Create and release engineering drawings, schematics, wire-harness assemblies and BOMs to support fabrication and integration.
  • Size electrical hardware appropriately-including power systems, connectors, wiring, and related components-to support avionics system requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design quality, manufacturability, and efficiency.
  • Research relevant innovative emerging technologies for potential application and business needs, and recommend improvements or technology investments to support project goals.
  • Create QA/QC test procedures for designed circuits, and work with test team to automate the test and checkout process.
  • Perform system validation and compliance with test equipment using DMMs, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Collaborate with a talented, cross-functional team to drive project success.
  • Review supplier drawing changes impacting production and update obsolete parts or make design improvements.
  • Generate test reports for avionics under test and flight reports for characterization of system and capture of performance during flight.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in embedded systems engineering required; 5 years preferred, to effectively navigate and resolve complex issues encountered in low-level embedded systems.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours and weekends as needed to meet production and integration schedules.
  • Proven experience as a development engineer of avionics products or electronic circuits in aviation and aerospace.
  • Experience with Pspice, LTSpice or equivalent schematic capture and circuit simulation tool, including layout design, electronic components stress analysis, worst case circuit analysis, and design for thermal management.
  • Experience with various communication protocols such as RS232/422/485, CAN bus, TCP/IP, or any other common data protocols.
  • Proficiency with Linux, C/C++, Python, Altium, and MS office tools.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with multi-discipline teams.
  • Ability to integrate hardware and software into cohesive systems.
  • Experience performing Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, troubleshooting, and resolutions.
  • Experience in scaling up electrical systems designs and products from prototypes to large scale production.
  • Experience with implementing principles of Design for manufacturing, test, and integration.
