Full Job Description
Job Description

We are seeking highly motivated Electrical Engineers to join our team, supporting the design, development, troubleshooting, testing, and in-service support of the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) and/or the Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG). These critical systems are key to naval aircraft carrier operations, utilizing advanced electromagnetic and modular technologies to ensure reliable aircraft launches and recoveries.

This role is suited for both entry-level candidates (0-6 years of experience) and mid-level professionals (5+ years of experience), offering opportunities to work on cutting-edge defense technologies. Candidates should possess strong electrical engineering expertise, demonstrate resilience in challenging environments, and be ready to travel, including internationally and aboard naval vessels, to provide hands-on system support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design, analyze, optimize, and troubleshoot electrical components and systems for EMALS/AAG.
  • Assist with the development and review of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical specifications, and system documentation.
  • Conduct engineering investigations to identify and resolve system issues, including reviewing and performing repairs or providing technical recommendations for manufacturing components.
  • Perform system testing, validation, and evaluation to ensure compliance with performance, quality, and safety standards.
  • Provide technical recommendations to address electrical challenges and improve system reliability and operational safety.
  • Troubleshoot and develop procedures, including responding to shipboard emergency calls or supporting installations and testing outside normal working hours.
  • Prepare technical documentation and reports for stakeholders and engage in reviewing engineering change requests (e.g., REI/Waivers/Variances).
  • Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Travel as required (up to 5-30%, including internationally), onboard U.S. naval vessels and to remote sites to ensure system performance.

About EMALS/AAG:

EMALS is a state-of-the-art electromagnetic aircraft launch system employed on Ford-class aircraft carriers, and AAG is a modular system designed for the controlled recovery of naval aircraft. These systems are critical to national security and the operational success of the U.S. Navy's aircraft carriers.

Qualifications

Qualifications (Entry-Level & Mid-Level):

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) from an ABET-accredited institution.

Required Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of strong knowledge of electrical systems, power electronics, control systems, and troubleshooting techniques. (Proficiency in data analysis software, such as MATLAB, is a plus.)
  • Physical readiness to work in challenging and often uncomfortable environments, including onboard naval vessels, in confined spaces, and under extreme environmental conditions (e.g., hot/cold weather, vibrations, fumes, etc.)
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding activities such as climbing ladders and crawling through tight spaces.
  • Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, and steel-toed boots.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time, including international travel, and assist in emergency situations. A valid U.S. Passport is required.

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of EMALS/AAG or similar aircraft launch/recovery systems.
  • Experience with electromagnetic or advanced electrical systems and technologies.
  • Familiarity with military standards and specifications (e.g., MIL-STD).
  • Ability to read code (e.g., C#, C++) and work with XML documents.
  • Experience conducting Engineering Investigations or working in defense/aerospace environments.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
