Full Job Description
FMS Aerospace is currently seeking an experienced full-time Electrical Engineer for our Huntsville office location. This position will participate with the electrical engineering and flight test instrumentation capabilities within FMS Aerospace. Applicants must have experience with aircraft wiring harness design and manufacturing, integration of COTS electrical components, both power and data, must be able to create drawings with AutoCad or Draftsight, and must understand Electrical Loads Analysis. Additional responsibilities will be collaborating with the Flight Test team to define program's instrumentation requirements, modify/maintain the data acquisition system hardware and software, as well as support instrumentation planning, installation, and calibration. Key Responsibilities • Provide aircraft electrical engineering subject matter expertise. • Provide flight test instrumentation subject matter expertise. • Support business growth within the electrical engineering and test instrumentation capabilities. • Provide mentorship to engineers within these disciplines. • Review aircraft avionics systems, maintenance manuals, and wiring manuals, to develop systems integration approach. • Develop and maintain a Master Parameter List for each program. • Develop comprehensive Integration Plan that outlines the integration of system equipment. • Create drawings with AutoCad Electrical or Draftsight. • Support installation and calibration of test instrumentation. • Work with harness fabrication capability at FMS. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Electrical, Aeronautics, Computer Science discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the aviation electrical engineering field. Technical Foundations: Proven experience in electrical/mechanical/aerospace integration and testing. Familiar with power distribution, digital control, analog and digital data acquisition, signal conditioning, and transducers. Core Skills: Ability to interpret and create electrical drawings. Familiar with aircraft electrical concepts including: IPC620, SAE 50881, Data buses, Solid state recording and digital video recording / compression, Aircraft wiring, Avionics bus protocols including Mil Std-1553, ARINC-429/717, ASCB, IEEE 1394, and Ethernet protocols. Experience with electronics troubleshooting techniques and tools, including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and other common laboratory equipment. Familiar with EO/IR Camera Integration, Radar Integration, EGI and GPS standards. Security Clearance: Must be a U.S. citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a Department of Defense Secret clearance. Preferred Qualifications • Background in aviation airframe modifications or the aerospace industry. • Prior DoD or military flight test environment exposure. • Experience with National Instruments and/or Safran Data Acquisition Hardware is desirable. • Experience with DEWEsoftX Data Acquisition Software is desirable.
