The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Orlando, FL team.

Position Summary:

Tetra Tech is seeking a mid-level Electrical Engineer to support the design and delivery of electrical systems for municipal and industrial water, wastewater, and infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on technical design, collaboration, and continued professional development within a consulting environment.

Essential Functions:
  • Support the planning, design, and analysis of electrical systems for water, wastewater, and infrastructure facilities.
  • Develop electrical deliverables including one-line diagrams, control schematics, and panel wiring diagrams.
  • Design low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems, lighting, grounding, and related electrical systems.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical specifications, cost estimates, and basis-of-design documentation.
  • Contribute to the development of construction documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project standards.
  • Perform power system studies such as load flow, short-circuit, and coordination analyses using software such as SKM Power*Tools, ETAP, or EasyPower.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support integrated project delivery.
  • Participate in client meetings and internal design reviews as needed.
  • Support construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, schedules, and quality requirements.


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • EIT certification required. PE license preferred or ability and intent to obtain licensure.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical design within a consulting engineering environment.
  • Experience supporting water, wastewater, or infrastructure projects is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable NFPA standards.
  • Experience preparing electrical design documents and technical calculations.
  • Familiarity with power system modeling software such as SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid, unrestricted U.S. driver's license.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with instrumentation and control (I&C) systems for water or wastewater facilities.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Revit for electrical design coordination.
  • Exposure to utility coordination and permitting processes.
  • Experience supporting arc flash or coordination studies.


Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand, and use computer equipment for extended periods.
  • Occasional site visits requiring walking, bending, or lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to travel to project sites, client meetings, and conferences as required.

  • Hybrid work environment combining office-based design work with occasional field visits.
