Full Job Description
Your purpose:

The Electrical Engineer will oversee the planning, design and installation of machinery and equipment on the production floor. This includes testing and monitoring equipment, updating current system processes, creating standard operating procedures and safety protocols, and conducting risk assessments.

Essential Functions:
• Develops specifications and performance requirements for production equipment.
• Calculates cost analysis for integrating new equipment into the manufacturing process.
• Uses programming knowledge and experience to adapt equipment to specific job applications.
• Works with Continuous Improvement Manager to prepare operating instructions and programs for equipment.
• Oversees installation of machinery and equipment to ensure they function according to specifications.
• Evaluates equipment to ensure it can complete desired functions.
• Analyzes alternative techniques and methods and recommends changes to equipment or procedures as needed.
• Establishes schedule of procedures and maintenance routines to ensure equipment operates efficiently.
• Shares technical information and training with other departments.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be primarily in our climate-controlled facility. The plant floor is subject to vibration and equipment noise leading to a loud environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and might also be exposed to outside conditions, tight spaces, cleaning solvents and heights.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen.
• Continuous (6 or more hours per day) bending, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, reaching, lifting, and grasping.
• Continuous (6 or more hours per day) talking, listening, teaching, and repetitive motion, hand/wrist movement.
• Continuous (6 or more hours per day) standing and walking.
• Frequent (1 to 3 hours per day) work in a stooped position.
• Good eyesight, normal hearing.
• Ability to move and lift objects, frequently 50 lbs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days, nights and hours may vary depending on assigned shift and productions requirements. This position may require significant work hours beyond the normal workday based on the demands of the business cycle or customer volume of business.

Travel: Travel is not required for this position.

Required Education and Experience:
• Post secondary education in Electrical Engineering.
• Extensive knowledge of engineering and programming including electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
• Proficient with computer industrial design systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Proficient with computer design systems and Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Experience in PLC, HMI, and knowledge of control systems.
• Knowledge of Alen Brandley and Siemen controllers.
• Good electrical troubleshooting skills.
