Job SummaryThe Electrical Design Engineer will work within a multidisciplinary engineering organization to design and integrate sensing electronics for electro-optical-mechanical systems that interface with beam delivery subsystems in fiber-based laser products. This role encompasses the full project lifecycle, including initial design, lab debugging, system integration, and comprehensive testing as well as ongoing support of manufacturing teams through test development, troubleshooting, calibration, and production issue resolution to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Contribute to schematic capture and board design using OrCAD or similar tools under guidance from senior engineers, and assist with FPGA design tasks, while helping support existing products.
- Assist with project tasks by helping develop specifications and maintaining design documentation to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Provide support for manufacturing tests, calibration, and system debugging.
- Participate in compliance and certification efforts for new and existing products by preparing documentation and assisting with testing.
- Help estimate task durations and implement assigned design work, contributing to the delivery of high-quality, production-ready boards on schedule.
- BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- 1-4 years of experience in electrical engineering, including schematic design and FPGA RTL design with Verilog.
- Proficient in schematic tools like OrCAD; familiarity with PCB design tools
- Demonstrate excellent technical writing skills and the ability to provide high quality engineering documents.
- Strong communication skills required for interaction within group of internal customers, R&D, and European colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience in ModelSim and Quartus.
- Demonstrated ability to design and develop printed circuit assemblies.
- Experience in areas such as analog design, control systems, DSP, or high-efficiency power supplies is a plus.
- Familiarity with external interfaces such I2C, SPI, QSPI, ethernet.
- Experience assisting with hardware bring-up using lab tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, frequency generators, etc.
- Understanding of version control tools such as Git and SVN.
- Good organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate technical issues and make informed decisions with guidance.
