About this Role

Quanta Power Solutions is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer II to support the design and development of electrical systems for EPC power generation and distribution projects. This role supports projects involving gas turbines, renewable energy facilities, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, and transmission infrastructure.

The Electrical Engineer II will assist in developing construction packages and engineering deliverables for power generation facilities serving utility, industrial, and data center clients. This role works under the guidance of senior engineers while building technical expertise and project experience.

What You'll Do

Engineering Design & Analysis
  • Assist in the development of electrical engineering designs for power generation, renewable energy, BESS, substation, and transmission projects.
  • Support estimate-level preliminary designs and material take-offs (MTOs).
  • Prepare and contribute to engineering deliverables, including:
    • Single-line diagrams
    • Interconnect diagrams
    • Cable schedules
    • Equipment specifications
    • Lighting and grounding layouts
  • Perform basic engineering calculations, including:
    • Voltage drop calculations
    • Load calculations
    • Support for arc flash and coordination studies
  • Assist with instrumentation and control system design for monitoring and process applications.

Project Execution
  • Support projects through engineering phases including conceptual design and detailed engineering.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, civil, structural, and project management).
  • Review project specifications, client requirements, and applicable industry standards.
  • Participate in design reviews and project coordination meetings.
  • Assist in identifying and communicating scope updates or design issues.

Procurement & Vendor Coordination
  • Support preparation of technical specifications and procurement documentation.
  • Assist with review of vendor submittals and equipment documentation.
  • Coordinate with vendors to address technical questions under supervision of senior engineers.

Construction & Commissioning Support
  • Assist in preparing construction packages and installation documentation.
  • Support field activities including installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Respond to RFIs and assist with troubleshooting under guidance.
  • Participate in site visits and field verification activities as needed.

Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure work complies with applicable codes and standards, including:
    • NEC
    • IEEE
    • ISA
    • NFPA
    • Client and company standards
  • Follow company quality procedures and engineering best practices.


What You'll Bring

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
  • Exposure to EPC, power generation, utilities, or industrial projects preferred.
  • EIT certification or progress toward PE license preferred.

Technical Skills
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as:
    • AutoCAD
    • Revit or Plant 3D (preferred)
    • ETAP or SKM (basic exposure)
    • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic knowledge of:
    • Electrical system design
    • Power distribution systems
    • Industry codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NFPA)
  • Exposure to PLCs, SCADA, or instrumentation systems is a plus.
