Full Job Description
Job Description:

The Electrical Engineer II will lead the hardware design and implementation of embedded power electronics for battery-powered products, with a focus on power conversion and motor control. You will work through the product development process in a team environment interacting with cross-functional stakeholders such as hardware, firmware, product development, and test engineers. This position will sit onsite at our headquarters in Anderson, South Carolina.

Primary Job Functions:
  • Design and own power electronics hardware for battery-powered products, including architecture, schematic capture, component selection, and design tradeoffs
  • Design and debug MOSFET switching power stages and supporting circuits (gate drive, protection, current/voltage sensing, power sequencing) for low-voltage and high-current applications
  • Support motor control hardware implementations (e.g., inverter/bridge power stages and associated sensing/protection) and collaborate with firmware engineers on HW/FW interfaces
  • Prototype, test, and troubleshoot embedded electronics; drive root cause and corrective actions using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, spectrum analyzers, ESD/EMC tools, data acquisition systems, and analysis software
  • Lead the design activities including component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototype builds, and test plan development and execution
  • Effectively communicate and motivate up, down, and across the organization to a diverse range of technical and non-technical team members; drive urgency in schedules and accountability to meet key project metrics
  • Independently track projects to ensure adherence to schedule and the TTi's stage-gate product development process in a fast-paced environment

Required Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in embedded electronics design with strong hardware ownership, including 32-bit microcontroller-based circuits (firmware exposure is a plus)
  • Demonstrated design experience in power conversion and/or motor drives in embedded hardware implementations
  • Demonstrated experience with MOSFET switching in low-voltage battery systems (20-80V class), including practical understanding of gate drive, switching behavior, and protection needs
  • Knowledge of electronic component selection and design tradeoffs
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools, and ability to support occasional PCB layout needs (e.g., Altium or equivalent)
  • Self-motivated, organized, efficient, process oriented with a strong work ethic
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, exercises independent judgement and works well under pressure in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
