Job Summary:

Mercury Systems has a great opportunity for an electrical engineer who specializes in Component Engineering to make an impact, and the ability help mature our component process and framework right away. We are seeking a mid-career Components or Parts Engineer to support our ever-advancing defense and aerospace product portfolio. If selected, you will be part of the Parts, Materials, and Processes (PMP) Team supporting GIDEP, component analysis, and part change notices. You will also be working on large production programs for various business units. Our products include aerospace systems that protect warfighters, noncombatants, and critical infrastructure. The work we do is making a difference in the world - today. This is a very hands-on, collaborative company and we value your input.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Analyze Bills of Materials to create reports for various component data points such as End of Life, component size, temperature ratings, etc.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, purchasing, commodity management, quality engineering, and work with vendors and contractors.
  • Research and assess impact of GIDEP alerts and work with quality engineering teams to ensure defective material is identified and purged from all stock locations. Determine possible impacts to product in the field.
  • Developing innovative technical solutions to obsolescence problems that require creativity with little to no supervision.
  • Review alternate sources for End-of-Life component issues.
  • Design for Reliability.
  • Participates in the development of new designs to correct problems before products are released to manufacturing.
  • Review and analyze engineering change orders for parts and material changes.
  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications.

Required Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in related industry (i.e. defense, electronics) or one years plus a master's degree in related disciplines.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
  • Knowledge of common military and industry specifications and standards (MIL, ASTM, AEC, ESA, NASA, etc.)
  • Knowledge of electronic fabrication techniques and processes such as SMT, chip and wire, hybrids, etc.
  • Familiar with environmental testing per MIL-STD-883 (this is required); MIL-PRF-38534, 38535, passive components, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, materials engineering, materials science or related discipline.
  • Understanding of component ratings, and Derating requirement
  • Understanding of failure modes in capacitors and packaged active devices.
  • Familiarity with the NSMAR / NSPAR process or/and forms.
  • Prior experience in Quality or Supplier Quality organizations; familiarity with SAE AS9100 and AS9102. Knowledge of QMS requirements.
  • Familiarity in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), MES (Manufacturing Execution System), Quality Management System (QMS), and MS Office software.
  • Active US Security Clearance is a plus.
