Overview

Position Summary

 

Working as Senior Electrical Engineer and Onsite project lead. Performs engineering tasks and coordinates workload of people in India as the engagement is expanded.

Responsibilities

Manage and lead all engineering activities, both in-house and outsourced, during the proposal, design, and construction stages of new or modifications to existing substation projects with strict adherence to the project contract.

Develop proposals including writing and/or reviewing RFP requirements, estimating design man-hours and material takeoffs, development of clarifications and exceptions, as well as technical responses.

Support proposal efforts by introducing and promoting innovation, cost-saving ideas, and value-added solutions to the overall system design concept.

Provide expertise and support to the proposal and project teams in validating sub-contractor bids and in negotiating sub-contracts for electrical substation and switchyard projects.

Lead the development of single-line diagrams, layout drawings, raceway systems, grounding systems, station service, and bills of materials for substation design packages as per customer specification and /or industry standards (IEEE, NEMA, NESC, ANSI).

Develop the Design Criteria and the Document Deliverables list for the project.

Utilize knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code to ensure that designs comply with the required safety clearances.

Generate equipment specifications, monitor vendor technical compliance, and witness factory acceptance testing.

Coordinate work with other disciplines (Civil, Mechanical) and/or offices to ensure project requirements are consistent.

Identify potential or probable risks during construction & installation and develop mitigation strategies for identified risks.

Prepare, update, and support the project execution engineering activities in the schedule, emphasizing on-time delivery, quality of deliverables, and project costs.

Perform technical, cost savings, and constructability reviews of design packages from internal engineering, outsourced sub-contractor engineering, and equipment factories.

Provide substation project management support, including managing engineering scope according to technical contracts, equipment procurement, developing change orders, and maintaining project schedules.

Provide construction, installation, and commissioning support.

Collaborate, coordinate, and resolve project-related activities and issues.

Recognize problematic situations and apply appropriate concepts to solve problems that are usually short-term in nature.

Interface with client representatives and sub-consultants to ensure communications are maintained and project objectives are achieved.

Mentor other engineers and designers.

Qualifications

Experience as a Senior Electrical Engineer.

Experience as an Onsite Project Lead.

Familiar with industry standards (IEEE, NEMA, NESC, ANSI).

Education Requirements

Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
