Your role

As a Research and Development Engineer, you will be at the forefront of advancing our organization's scientific and engineering capabilities. Your mission is to drive innovation by developing cutting-edge products and technologies that meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance. You will play a critical role in shaping the future of our industry through groundbreaking research, design, and development activities, ensuring our products and processes are not only efficient but also environmentally sustainable. As an Electrical Engineer you will be joining a cross-functional team of electrical, firmware, mechanical and test engineers working on our next generation of Ultra High Vacuum pump and controller designs. The Electrical Engineer will be able to demonstrate a methodical and detailed approach to electronics design and development. Candidates should be familiar with accepted industry standards for developing schematics, PCB layout and overall PCBA development and verification you will be at the forefront of advancing our organization's scientific and engineering capabilities. Your mission is to drive innovation by developing cutting-edge products and technologies that meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance. You will report to the Engineering Manager.

Your day-to-day

  • Detailing requirements, firmware implementation, integration, and some level of system testing in Gamma Vacuum controllers and pumps
  • Developing and designing cost-effective circuit solutions and creating PCBA designs
  • Partnership with firmware engineers developing cohesive, cost-effective embedded solution for digital controllers.
  • Quickly understanding legacy products development and their working principles
  • Develop and execute validation tests on hardware module and full product designs
  • Maintenance and management of legacy electronic designs
  • Flexible to oversee hands-on testing using real equipment (Vacuum controllers, UHV Ion pumps, various communication connections) in a lab environment
  • Working as part of a team to deliver on-time & right-first-time solutions
  • Assisting in the development, maintenance, and execution of automated tests
  • Effective ownership of controlled development process using Altium tool set and management of changes


Your skills and experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ yrs of industry experience
  • Proficiency in Altium Designer for circuit design and layout
  • Proficiency utilizing change management using Agile workspace and component library
  • Experience and knowledge in embedded controls and real time data processing in Embedded Systems
  • Experience with Ethernet, RS232 or RS485 communication interfaces
  • Experience with ARM-based processors and associated peripherals in an embedded design solution
  • Experience with high-voltage system design (3kVdc to 12kVdc and 110-240 VAC)
  • Experience with high accuracy current and voltage detection/measurement circuit design
  • Desired experience with touch-screen display technology and HMI design
  • Ability to work with key component suppliers in identifying critical use components
  • Experience with certification agencies (UL, Dekra, CSA) in qualifying electronic designs to global standards
  • Desired experience with EMC related testing and evaluation
  • Has a proactive, self-motivated approach to solving problems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work closely with Firmware and QA team members as well as small teams to complete tasks
