Job DescriptionOverviewAs an Electrical Engineer in our transportation group, you will be responsible for designing and coordinating electrical systems for traffic signal and lighting projects across the country. You'll work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality design packages and technical advice to support roadway safety, efficiency and sustainability.
Your role- Design and prepare traffic signal and illumination drawings, specifications, and cost estimates in accordance with TAC, Ontario Traffic Manual (OTM), and provincial and municipal standards (e.g., City of Toronto, York and Peel Regions, MTO).
- Design and prepare LRT transit and subway electrical work, electrical vehicle charging stations, specification and cost estimate.
- Perform photometric analysis, lighting calculation, pole and cable calculations, and circuit design.
- Review existing conditions and perform site assessments for retrofit or new installations.
- Coordinate with in-house civil engineers, clients, utility providers, and municipal stakeholders during design and construction phases.
- Prepare technical reports, tender packages, and coordinate responses to RFIs.
- Ensure compliance with ESA, CSA, and other applicable codes and standards. Attend meetings, site visits, and project coordination sessions as required.
About you- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Registered as Professional Engineer (P. Eng) in Ontario (or eligible within a reasonable timeframe).
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in traffic signal and roadway illumination design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and design tools such as AGi32 or Autolux for lighting analysis.
- Familiarity with ESA requirements, utility coordination (e.g., Alectra, Toronto Hydro), and permitting processes.
- Additional illumination system experience such as airport or marine infrastructure would be an asset. Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

Additional informationExpected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $80,000 - $110,000 annually (Only Applicable to Ontario). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
