We are currently seeking a Department Manager Electrical and Instrumentation, reporting directly to the Head of Engineering Houston OC to join our Electrical team based in Houston, Texas, USA.

Department Manager - Electrical

Directly supervises operationally the Houston OC electrical department.

Key interactions (internally, externally): Project Managers, Engineering Managers, Other Department Managers, other OC's, Clients.

Reports to Head of Engineering - Houston OC

Key Responsibilities:

The Electrical Department Manager is responsible for the technical leadership, resource management, and quality assurance of the electrical engineering discipline within the organization. This role ensures the successful execution of electrical engineering scope across multiple projects while maintaining and developing departmental capability, maintaining engineering standards and career planning of electrical team with the support of P&C

Specific tasks include,
  • Plan and allocate resources across projects to ensure optimal utilization.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop electrical engineering talent.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and career development planning.
  • Promote a culture of technical excellence, safety, and collaboration.
  • Serve as the technical authority for electrical engineering within the organization.
  • Ensure electrical designs on projects comply with applicable codes and standards such as NEC, IEEE, and client specifications.
  • Develop and maintain departmental design standards, specifications, and best practices.
  • Ensure adherence to financial budgets and staff utilization targets.
  • Ensures proper coordination with other departments to optimize the priorities of Technip Energies / projects interests.
  • Provides appropriate input to proposals and pre-qualifications
  • When applicable, ensures the project deliverables meet local and federal government's requirements for professional engineer's sealing and stamping.
  • Supports, Initiates, implements and meets the targets of the organization's ESG score card and Digital Initiatives.


Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 20 years of Experience in engineering including as lead discipline or discipline department manager in an EPC organization
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in TX and LA or ability to obtain license in LA within 4 months of joining
  • Shall possess strong knowledge of,
  • Industrial power distribution systems
  • Medium and low voltage systems
  • Motor control centers (MCCs)
  • Substations and transformers
  • Electrical protection and coordination
  • Hazardous area classification
  • Grounding and lightning protection
  • Power system studies
  • Knowledge of HV systems and Construction experience is a strong plus
  • Excellent management and leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in professional English
