Job Description (General Summary)

The Electrical & Controls Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for setting & measuring team goals, KPIs, and individual goals to progress business initiatives forward. The Electrical & Controls Engineering Supervisor will collaborate with various internal teams to ensure that the team delivers on-time, complete, and accurate electrical and controls deliverables to all stakeholders. The Controls Engineering Supervisor will report to a functional manager.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements

Responsibilities:
• Manage the rollout of programmatic material handling equipment at scale, with or without included controls package
• Oversee the creation and maintenance of customer-facing documentation and modifications to existing core-product controls platforms
• Manage a team that designs and implements controls and electrical systems for material handling equipment and provides integrator support during pre-go-live installation and commissioning, post-go-live hypercare, and tier 2 peak support
• Lead and supervise an Electrical and Automation Controls Engineering team.
• Help team members succeed in their roles and guide their personal development.
• Encourage an environment of teamwork and convey the concepts of the Laitram Business Philosophy within the team.
• Inspire and instill the highest standards in our engineering designs. Ensure error-free solutions.
• Participate in strategic and business planning activities. Set team Vision, Mission and Goals and execute it with the team.
• Facilitate and lead continuous improvement efforts that improve efficiency and quality during each set of the project/product life cycle.
• Collaborate with our Sales, Product Management, Product Engineering, Application Engineering, and Global Engineering Standards Teams to improve products which directly will improve internal productivity and bring more value to our customers.
• Work closely with our Production Control, Materials Management, Assembly, Testing and Quality Teams to provide accurate, on-time, and complete solutions.
• Coordinate with engineering and operations teams to ensure consistent deliverables.
• Guide and develop our Engineers so they can continue to design the industrial transportation systems of the future.
• Manage a team's resource capacity, commitments, and tasks and communicate priorities to other leadership.

Requirements:
• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 5 years experience in industrial electrical and controls design.
• Proficient at designing Industrial Control Systems such as generating a BOM, schematic generation, and control panel hardware design.
• Proficient with using measuring devices, tools, and reading and understanding electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Proficient with software design and code development, especially as it pertains to PLCs and PACs environments.
• Knowledge of and familiarity with fabrication methods and design for manufacturing and assembly principles.
• Strong decision making and problem-solving abilities.
• Leadership capabilities. Ability to set/adopt a vision and then execute it with a team.
• Outstanding people skills with ability to communicate effectively with multiple departments across various skill sets and time zones. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to meet the functional requirements of the job including being able to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders.
• Travel required (10-20%) for equipment installation, start-up or troubleshooting often taking place on weekends and holidays to meet customer scheduling requirements.
• This position must sit onsite at our office in Hanover, MD.

Preferred Qualifications:
• At least 2 years as an Engineering Team Lead, Supervisor or Manager with experience managing a team including interviewing, hiring, firing, developing personnel, etc.
• Material handling controls and automation experience
• Autodesk Inventor experience, especially in Electrical Control Panel Design.
• Familiarity with using Product Data and Lifecycle Management tools such as PTC Windchill PLM
• AutoCAD Electrical experience especially related to Electrical Schematic and Panel Design
• Familiarity with Nationally recognized specifications and regulatory bodies such as OSHA, NFPA 70 NEC, NFPA 79, UL 508A, and IEC
• Allen Bradley PLC Hardware design with Studio5000 programming experience
• Siemens S7 PLC Hardware design with TIA Portal Programming experience
• Network communication implementation and experience such as TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, and Profinet

The position is eligible for one of the following: commissions, discretionary incentives, or production incentives according to the terms of those plans

Salary Range $110,000 to $170,600.
