Full Job Description
Performs a variety of technical and customer-related work including designing and writing work orders, in connection with the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Company’s electrical distribution system. Supports various Eversource functions focused on Residential and Commercial/Industrial customers in the areas of new business, existing customer relations, and service requirements. Assists the Project Coordinator with complex projects. Ability to effectively work and communicate with people at all levels both internal and external to the Company. Starting Rate of Pay: $53.17 per hour PRIMARY DUTIES 1. Consults with external parties such as customers, contractors, municipal and state officials, business and utility representatives to assess customer and project requirements. 2. Interfaces with appropriate departments to ensure the proper design and efficient coordination of information for distribution projects. 3. Designs and writes projects, providing the necessary details to ensure timely scheduling and completion of work. Maintains working knowledge and adherence to the rules and provisions of company environmental policies, Design Standards, and Safety Manual in the design of facilities. 4. Actively participates in the weekly AWC Planning and Scheduling meetings to coordinate customer projects and project requirements with the Resource Planner and the local scheduler. Monitors and provide accurate need dates for all on-going assigned projects. 5. Supports the needs of the customer or company by performing, as appropriate, site visitations and consultation, and providing documentation, estimates, line extension documentation, easements, layout and pole location plans, necessary to complete final job preparation and project coordination. 6. Recommends solutions and assists in the resolution of project and customer issues, concerns and complaints. 7. Provides accurate and timely cost estimates and designs for new Residential and Commercial/Industrial services, relocations and upgrade projects. Prepares designs and supporting documentation for additions and changes to the Company electric system. 8. Provides support information and cost estimates for the construction and maintenance budget process. 9. Will have storm restoration and emergency restoration assignments. 10. Listens to and understands the customer (both internal and external); anticipates customer needs; gives high priority to customer satisfaction. 11. Prepares documentation for GIS map update process. 12. Monitors and help workgroup achieve established department and corporate goals. Assists in the training of Electric Distribution Designers in progression. REQUIREMENTS Education: associate degree in engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Electricity or similar programs. Experience: Successful completion of on-the-job training of an Electric Distribution Designer 1 which normally takes 12 months, or equivalent level of related work experience. Knowledge/Skill: 1. Sound knowledge of electrical distribution systems and construction standards and techniques. 2. Capable of accurately interpreting company circuit maps, site and highway construction plan and profile prints, etc. 3. Effective written and oral communication skills. 4. Effective computer skills. 5. Must successfully pass the EEI Tech Test. 6. Knowledge of Company policies, procedures, and practices as they relate to the Eversource accounting system, customer service programs, rates, and work management systems, and other company software. 7. Knowledge and a complete understanding of joint-use agreements involving other utility companies. 8. Knowledge of the National Electric Code as it pertains to service installations and customer requirements, and knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code as it pertains to the Eversource distribution system. 9. Must hold a valid motor vehicle operator’s license. Bargaining unit employees with rights to this posting will be given first consideration.
