Aptar is seeking an EHS Specialist based in Cary, IL. This position is on site at our Cary plant. This role will represent the EHS team across the Cary Campus promoting a world-class safety program, ensuring compliance with local, regional, and national regulations while driving initiatives aligned with Aptar's global safety approach. Partners with site leadership to foster a behavior-based safety culture aiming to keep all employees safe.

As the EHS Specialist, You Will
  • Monitor daily manufacturing operations for OSHA, EPA, and Aptar Global compliance by inspecting all Cary Campus facilities and work practices to identify and correct non-conformities such as improper PPE use and ergonomic risks.
  • Conduct regular plant safety inspections, EHS audits, and risk assessments across all shifts, identifying and abating hazards or unsafe practices to prevent injuries and ensure compliance.
  • Maintain and report site and campus safety metrics accurately and on time to support organizational compliance and performance goals.
  • Collaborate with site leadership to perform accident investigations to determine the facts related to an accident or incident based on witness interviews, site inspections and collection of other evidence and report corrective actions and findings timely.
  • Develop, deliver, and coordinate comprehensive safety training programs and emergency drills for employees and supervisors, covering topics such as accident prevention, PPE, LOTO, machine guarding, BBS, and emergency response.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, including SDS records and compliance logs.
  • Assist in implementing ergonomic improvements and industrial hygiene practices.
  • Actively participate in and empower site safety committees, providing input on safety initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
  • Contributes to the implementation and improvement of established behavior-based safety programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Who We Are Looking For

Education
  • Bachelor's degree and equivalent experience required.
  • A degree in safety, Safety and Environmental Management is strongly preferred.


Required Skills
  • Typically requires a minimum of 2-4 years of experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards, machine safety, and hazard control methods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • OSHA 30-hour general industry certification (preferred)
  • First Aid/CPR certified (preferred)
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar safety certification (preferred)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to convert informational data into action plans.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $75,000-$100,000 annually.
