Full Job Description
Hexcel is currently seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager for our Burlington, WA location. The EHS Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining and managing a variety of environmental and safety programs to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all employees providing optimal environmental protection and preventing injury to employees along with preventing damage to property and equipment. Summary pay range: $106,114 - $181,910 annual salary. The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
  • Work collaboratively with site leadership to develop, implement and manage EHS programs and initiatives which foster a zero-incident culture that exceeds regulatory requirements and EHS compliance obligations to achieve best practice.
  • Influence the workforce and organizational leadership drive support for EHS actions and commitments for continuous improvement.
  • Engage with all employees and advance the interdependent EHS culture.
  • Manage interactions and develop collaborative working relationships with government agencies, professional EHS groups, community advisory panels, internal EHS colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Work with site leadership and operations to ensure EHS protective measures are optimized. Develop and recommend actions to drive EHS continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance to EHS standards through inspections of operating areas, audits, operational readiness reviews, and thorough review and approval of safe operating procedures.
  • Maintain the environmental management system by managing all site environmental aspects and impacts, including compliance to relevant permits.
  • Provide leadership and expertise to implement, improve and maintain certification of EHS management systems in accordance with applicable ISO and company standards, and act as the liaison with third-party auditors.
  • Advise and actively participate in risk and hazard evaluations for existing and new processes, equipment and capital investments. Promote safety mindfulness among employees and contractors by providing accurate and informative data, supporting regular site/department safety meetings, providing timely feedback on safety recommendations and visibly supporting the plant EHS program.
  • Support timely resolution of EHS barriers/obstacles by defining the problem/gap/improvement opportunity, determining root cause, establishing action plans and priorities, working with operations and site leadership to expedite repair and providing technical assistance.
  • Work with site leadership to develop and implement EHS strategy and objectives for the location.
  • Develop, track and report key EHS performance metrics, including lagging and leading indicators, using the corporate EHS management information system (Cority).
  • Stay informed of new and revised environmental, health and safety laws, regulations and codes, and work with site leadership and operations to achieve timely compliance.
  • Educate and improve EHS knowledge through training, as needed, in support of applicable laws and corporate standards and management systems.
  • Contribute and collaborate as a member of Hexcel's global EHS team (i.e., participate as a peer auditor, engage and be active in corporate and regional collaboration calls and meetings, etc.).
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or related field.
  • 7+ years of EHS experience in an industrial setting.
  • Experience coordinating a variety of regulatory compliance actions (e.g., filing or renewing permits with various government agencies, hosting inspections and responding to any findings that require root cause investigation and corrective action.)
  • Experience in root cause/corrective action methodologies required.
  • Knowledge and experience implementing and managing ISO 14001 or 45001 management systems.
  • Experience coordinating Process Safety Management (PSM) activities and compliance; familiarity with HAZOP and other PHA methodologies preferred.
  • Regulatory knowledge in OSHA, EPA, RCRA, and PSM preferred.
  • Professional certification or the ability to obtain professional certification preferred (CSP, CIH, etc.)
  • Ability to excel in a cross functional team and have strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
