Job Summary:

  • This EHS Manager will provide leadership, mentoring and direction to hourly, salaried and management personnel engaged in Environmental, Health, and/or Safety (EHS) activities related to a small facility or one discipline at a medium to large facility.

Additional Info:

  • This role is located primarily in Lafayette, IN with periodic travel to Lebanon, IN
  • Domestic Relocation Assistance: None
  • This role is 1st shift
  • This role is 100% on-site with no opportunity for hybrid or remote schedules
  • This role requires up to 15% domestic travel

What You Will Do:

  • Identifies common safety/health/environmental hazards inherent in the organization's operations and establishes guidelines for protection from those hazards.
  • Ensures EHS training is completed to comply with regulatory requirements or in support of facility, division, or enterprise objectives.
  • Audits safety/health/environmental programs for compliance with company standards, government regulations, and adequacy relative to local conditions.
  • Monitors periodic performance reports for trends and conditions and alerts line management to problems.
  • Lead and develop EHS professionals, coordinators, technicians, trainers, and support personnel.
  • Establish clear expectations and accountability.
  • Support succession planning and talent development.
  • Foster collaboration across departments.
  • Influence safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and engagement.

What You Have (Required Skills):

  • Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Policy Compliance: Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies; ability to implement EHS policies to ensure that provided products and services are safe for people and the environment and in compliance with legal requirements and standards.
  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
  • Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
  • OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 experience
  • Completed OSHA 30-40 hour course
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Safety Management, or related Management or Leadership field.
  • 5+ years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing, logistics, distribution, industrial, heavy equipment, or related environments.
  • 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and environmental regulations.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Experience developing and implementing EHS programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience
  • Sustainability and environmental reporting experience
  • Experience in warehousing, logistics, or Caterpillar operations
  • Experience managing multi-site EHS programs
  • Knowledge of behavior-based safety systems

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent walking throughout manufacturing and warehouse environments.
  • Ability to wear required PPE.
  • Occasional lifting up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations when required.

Summary Pay Range:

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location,job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
