Full Job Description
Hexcel is seeking an EHS Engineer to support the environmental aspects of the EHS program at our Kent, WA facility. This role focuses on maintaining compliance with state and federal environmental requirements, including site permits, ISO 14001 certification, and corporate sustainability initiatives, while partnering with operations to prevent compliance issues and protect the facility and surrounding community. The EHS Engineer will play a key role in strengthening an already positive EHS culture and offers a strong opportunity to build skills and grow within the Environmental Health & Safety field. This position reports to the Site EHS Manager.

Summary pay range: $77,968 - $131,230 annual salary.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

  • Support continuous improvement of the Kent site's environmental management system, with emphasis on operational compliance, data accuracy, and alignment with Hexcel sustainability goals.
  • Collaborate with corporate and site leadership on environmental permitting and compliance strategies, including preparation of permits and plans supporting current and future operations.
  • Monitor, calculate, and track environmental performance metrics, including air emissions, hazardous waste, wastewater, and stormwater discharges.
  • Maintain and continually improve the site's ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Prepare and support delivery of training, presentations, and communications related to environmental permitting, performance, and compliance for leaders, supervisors, and operators.
  • Support regulatory interactions with agencies, community groups, and other external stakeholders as needed.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness activities, including planning, training, drills, and reporting.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental regulatory reports, including EPCRA Tier II, TRI, Annual Emissions Inventory, compliance notifications, and permit renewals.
  • Collect environmental samples, maintain monitoring instruments, analyze data, and incorporate results into site and corporate performance indicators.
  • Review and approve chemical purchases for EHS compliance and risk, recommend appropriate controls, and support site health and safety programs (e.g., HAZCOM, chemical safety, industrial hygiene, confined spaces, respiratory protection).


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Chemical Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene or equivalent technical degree required; master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental heavy roles, with experience in chemical management preferred.
  • Experience in aspects of environmental compliance (e.g., air, water, waste) is required, with experience in supporting manufacturing operations preferred.
  • Experience in managing synthetic minor air permit, RCRA large quantity generator waste management, and direct/indirect effluent discharge permits.
  • Familiarity with environmental and sustainability programs (e.g., emissions reduction, waste reduction and recycling, reduction of water consumption).
  • Professional certifications such as CHMM, QEP, CIH, PE, ASP, or CSP preferred.
