Full Job Description
Job Summary
The EHS Specialist function utilizes the existing procedures and their acquired knowledge toprovide EHS technical support to the Plant through coordination of EHS activities and programs.This role supports the implementation, execution, and maintenance of the environmental,health, and safety systems for the plant.
As the EHS Specialist, you will work collaboratively with the Corporate EHS team, PlantManagement, Production, Maintenance, and Engineering team members and focus on variousprojects and initiatives within these teams.

Essential Duties
  • Review accidents and incidents, conduct field audits and reporting and oversee EHScorrective actions.
  • Coordinate with Plant Manager, Production, Maintenance, and Engineering Departmentson facility, safety, and personnel training deficiencies through site audits and inspections.
  • Support EHS management system through proactive engagement with the EHSprogram champions
  • Survey employee population to identify safety concerns and implement correctiveactions to address.
  • Learn and conduct industrial hygiene sampling, reporting, and compliance with the goalof meeting the SGI target of ½ of all allowable limits.
  • Ensure that Corporate EHS management practices are embedded in the operation andthese management practices are driving the appropriate behavior.
  • Identify site-specific circumstances requiring changes to the EHS management system,and enable the successful implementation and sustainability at a local level.
  • Utilizing the EHS Enterprise System (Velocity - EHS) - record and analyze accident andincident records and make recommendations regarding corrective actions, emphasizingpro-active intervention.
  • Partner with plant leadership and operators, ensuring that the plant is free from risks tothe environment, health, and safety.
  • Conduct accident investigations, together with site management develop a response toMSHA citations and challenges to citations as warranted.
  • Conduct required environmental sampling, reporting and permitting in coordination withthe Corporate Environmental Manager.
  • Assist with the new employee completion of EHS training for all employees.
  • Partner with plant leadership to ensure that accident and incident investigations areconducted in a timely, effective, and thorough manner to determine root cause andprevention measures.
  • Conduct all plant visits/tours by government agencies.
  • Ensure the findings of accident investigations, safety inspections, audits, and riskassessments are brought to the attention of leadership and others who may be affected.
  • Coordinate with appropriate industry related vendors, internal stakeholders, and SMEs,related to the EHS needs of the organization.
  • Coordinate HS training and records across the plant (Engineering, Maintenance, Adminetc.)
  • Support plant leadership on capital project planning to align sustainability efforts withcapital and engineering projects

Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Preferably in Occupational Environmental, Health & Safety,Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Industrial Engineering or related field Required
  • Experience with training and auditing
  • 2 years of Environmental, Health, and Safety experience (Preferred)

  • Basic knowledge of EHS theories and practices

  • Basic knowledge with MSHA regulations and handling inspections

Travel Requirements: 10% domestically

Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications.

Base Salary Range: $72,000-$99,000
