Job Description

Join our team as an EH&S Manager. This position has primary responsibility for managing the Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) processes for TWB's Valley City, OH facility. They promote EH&S awareness with an emphasis on preventing incidents and protecting the environment. EH&S is responsible for recognizing and assessing hazards in the workplace and recommending corrective measures. They work with plant personnel and Corporate EH&S to ensure compliance with applicable regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and the implementation of best practices. They manage internal EH&S systems and complete required reports and notifications. They also conduct EHS training and coaching as necessary.

Responsibilities

Safety Culture Leadership
  • Partner with plant leadership to build and sustain a proactive safety culture rooted in hazard recognition, employee engagement, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Drive initiatives that increase employee ownership of safety through near miss reporting, hazard identification, corrective action follow-through, and risk reduction.
  • Coach leaders at all levels on effective safety leadership behaviors, including visibility, engagement, communication, and accountability.
  • Process Management: Implement all elements of the WS Safety Improvement Process. Ensure EHS systems are
  • implemented and maintained effectively including ISO 14001, OHSAS 45001, WEIMS, and 3E Online and others.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing cost reduction and continuous improvement projects. Lead and participate in internal and external audit activities relating to ISO 1400, 45001 and insurance carriers.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all EHS related laws and regulations. Maintain injury records and post safety related information as required. Maintain written programs to ensure they are up to date and follow Corporate models. Manage environmental permits and ensure proper completion of records and reports. Complete all safety and environmental related testing as required. Inspect property, equipment, and work practices for compliance with regulatory and insurance carrier standards. Coordinate all necessary industrial health and audiometric monitoring.
  • Training: Educate employees on the regulatory standards applicable to the facility. Instruct all employees on internal EHS policy and procedures. Ensure required safety and environmental training has been identified and completed for new and existing employees. Ensure completion of regulatory training required by the company, government and plant specific.
  • Risk Assessment: Ensure all job functions have appropriate risk assessments completed using Safety Failure Modes & Effect Analysis (SFMEA). Implement appropriate measures to minimize risk including the use of engineering controls where possible. Ensure all necessary personal protective equipment has been identified and is used as required.
  • Communication: Manage and support EHS committee initiatives. Complete internal incident notifications in accordance with company policy. Ensure all hazardous areas and conditions are identified and communicated to employees using appropriate visual and audio techniques. Communicate performance toward company goals for safety and the environment. Interface with external regulatory contacts (Federal, State, and Local) as necessary.
  • Vendor Management: Responsible for vendor approval, contractor management program and vendor insurance review.
  • Incident Investigation: Manage incident investigation process to ensure root cause is identified to prevent reoccurrences. Ensure proper documentation, escalation, implementation and correspondence to government entities, if required. Enforce company EHS policies related to reasonable suspicion and policy enforcement
  • Leadership: Will manage and EH&S Coordinator
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Five years of related experience
  • Continuing education required (First responder, regulatory, leadership and safety professional)
  • Must exhibit strong leadership and management skills
  • Must possess strong organization and record keeping skills
  • Strong knowledge of environmental, health and safety compliance regulations
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of plant personnel
  • Able to present material to large groups
  • Strong MS Office knowledge
