Full Job Description
R. J. Corman Railroad Company is currently seeking a Manager of Mechanical Training & Operating Compliance to join our team in Nicholasville, KY.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support mechanical safety programs across railroad operations.
  • Develop and deliver safety training for mechanical employees and oversee training records, certifications, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with FRA, OSHA, GCOR, AAR and company safety standards.
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, job observations, and compliance reviews.
  • Lead investigations involving incidents, injuries, accidents, and near misses; identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Partner with mechanical leadership to implement safety initiatives, policies, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and recommend updates to safety programs and procedures.
  • Analyze safety performance metrics and prepare compliance reports.
  • Participate in risk assessments and hazard mitigation activities.
  • Support special projects, emergency response efforts, and other duties as assigned.
  • Travel up to 80% as business needs require.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering, Railroad Operations, or related field; equivalent railroad experience may be considered.
  • Railroad management or operations experience.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical department operations and railroad safety regulations.
  • Experience delivering technical and safety training.
  • Experience conducting audits, incident investigations, and compliance reviews.
  • Strong communication, leadership, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and reporting systems.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • CSP, ASP, OHST, CHST, or similar certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in rail yards, locomotive shops, and outdoor environments.
  • Frequent walking on ballast and uneven terrain.
  • Ability to stand, climb, bend, and inspect equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Environmental Conditions:
  • Exposure to rail operations, moving equipment, shop environments, noise, and varying weather conditions.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Frequent travel and overnight stays.
