The Department of Education and Early Development is recruiting for an Education Administrator 2 in Anchorage or Juneau.

This position is in the PERS retirement system

What you will be doing:
Under the general direction of the Division Director, this position serves as the designated State Administrator of the Academic Support program. The incumbent provides statewide leadership/advocacy for district and school improvement in the area of reading and leads the team whose responsibilities focus on supporting evidence-based instructional practices. The position is responsible for reviewing and evaluating standards, curricula, and evidence-based instructional practices. This position also facilitates the collaboration and efforts of the Academic Support team, ensuring their focus and responsibilities align with best practices and the latest reading science. The role supports teachers, schools, and districts in implementing instruction, curricula, and professional practices aligned with the Alaska Reads Act.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree;
AND either
1. Two years experience as an Education Specialist 2 or an Education Administrator 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
OR
2. Six years experience in education including two years in an administrative or supervisory capacity at least at a level of, or equivalent to, a principal responsible for several other professionals may be substituted for the two years of specific experience.

Appropriate graduate work may be substituted for a maximum of two years of non-specialized experience in No.2.

A masters degree in Administration and/or Education is preferred.
