Description

The Ecology, Forestry & Roads Manager will oversee operational management, planning, and execution of forestry, road infrastructure, drainage, open space, landscaping, and resource programs within the Del Monte Forest. Supervise field operations, maintenance activities, environmental projects and regulatory compliance while ensuring the long-term protection and sustainability of natural resources and critical infrastructure.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Supervise daily operations and prioritize projects across roads, trails, open space, and drainage systems.
  • Supervise and develop employees, establish performance expectations, and promote a strong culture of teamwork, safety, and accountability.
  • Conduct performance reviews and evaluations of staff.
  • Hire, schedule, review payroll and approve overtime.
  • Interact and coordinate logistics and special projects with contractors, consultants, vendors, internal department managers, and local organizations.
  • Maintain good working relationships with all vendors, and all other internal departments.
  • Oversee yearly road paving project and capital drainage projects.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor departmental budgets.
  • Address residential property owner's concerns. Meet with residents and determine ownership and responsibility of issues.
  • Respond to emergencies involving roads, drainage, vegetation, storms, and other natural- resource or infrastructure issues.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations, permits, safety requirements, and property standards.
  • Participate in setup and tear down for all special events. AT&T Pro-Am, Food & Wine, Men's and Women's U.S. Opens, Concours d'Elegance and First Tee Senior PGA Tour Event.
  • Maintain a presentable appearance and courteous manner, projecting a positive attitude to other departments.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards.
  • Any other duties requested by your supervisor.


Required Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of forestry, ecology, natural resource management, and vegetation management.
  • Experience managing roads, drainage systems, trails, and related infrastructure.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and respond effectively to emergency and time sensitive situations.
  • Ability to use good judgment and communicate in a courteous manner with Forest residents, the public and other Pebble Beach Company departments.
  • Ability to work in outdoor, rugged, and variable weather conditions.
  • California driver's license with less than 2 points.


Desired Skills:
  • Experience with computer programs, hardware & software.
  • Class B commercial driver's license.
  • ISA Certified Arborist.
  • Five years' minimum experience working in related field.
