Full Job Description
Job Summary:
Performs and assists with a variety of echocardiographic tests and other related duties, working under limited supervision to ensure high quality diagnostic studies. Reports to the manager of Non-Invasive Cardiology Services.
Produce echocardiograms that satisfy the laboratory protocols for standard transthoracic imaging and for special conditions including valvular heart disease, 3D echocardiography and strain imaging.
Participates fully in all the routine procedures within the laboratory, including transesophageal echo, and structural heart disease cases.
Identify studies which require vetting for appropriateness. When present, recognizes true cardiac emergencies, including cardiac tamponade, aortic dissection, and acute valvular regurgitation. Uses contrast for appropriate indications.
Has facility with a full variety of special indications, including patients with ventricular assist devices (LVAD and RVAD), Impella pumps, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
