Full Job Description
Position Title: Earthwork Estimator

This role is critical for a professional looking to make a significant impact in the construction industry. The Earthwork Estimator will focus on estimating earthwork, underground utilities, and related projects, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in bid submissions. The position requires a strong understanding of site work and the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously. Candidates should be prepared to conduct site visits and collaborate closely with team members to refine estimates. Salary Range: $140000 - $170000 / Year DOE

Earthwork Estimator Responsibilities
  • Review incoming plans, specifications, and bid requirements as assigned
  • Analyze project scope to determine earthwork and utility needs
  • Conduct site visits to assess terrain and real-world conditions
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using appropriate software
  • Build comprehensive estimates and bid packages from start to finish
  • Identify scope gaps and risks prior to submission
  • Collaborate with estimators to review and refine bid assumptions
  • Manage multiple bids through various stages of the estimating process
  • Ensure estimates are accurate to protect job profitability
  • Participate in client meetings and bid discussions as needed

Earthwork Estimator Requirements:
  • Direct earthwork estimating experience is required
  • Experience with underground utilities projects is required
  • Proven ability to build full bid packages from start to finish is required
  • Strong understanding of all aspects of site work and earthwork jobs is required
  • Hands-on experience performing detailed takeoffs is required
  • Ability to hit the ground running with minimal training is required
  • Experience using Insite and Bid2Win or equivalent platforms is required
  • Ability to make independent estimating decisions with limited oversight is required
  • Willingness to conduct site visits 1-2 times per week is required
  • Strong understanding of crews, production rates, and unit pricing is required
  • Ability to work on multiple bids simultaneously and manage deadlines is required
  • Comfortable being client-facing in meetings and discussions is required
  • Clean drug test is required
  • Experience with CAT files or digital terrain modeling is preferred
  • Background as a Project Manager/Estimator hybrid is preferred
  • Prior field experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with both earthwork and utilities estimating is preferred
  • Experience working on larger, multi-phase sitework projects is preferred
  • Ability to mentor or support junior estimators is preferred
  • Comfortable participating in client meetings and scope discussions is preferred
  • Experience with fast-paced bid environments is preferred
  • Strong intuition for jobsite conditions and constructability is preferred
  • Familiarity with competitive bidding strategies is preferred
