Job DescriptionReporting to the Site Manager/Construction Director, the purpose of this position is to oversee and direct the performance of all field construction activities for assigned areas pertaining to Early Works scope in conformance with plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates. The position requires an authoritative knowledge of assigned work, a holistic grasp of complex situations, and the ability to assess the overall picture and alternative approaches to project objectives. The Early Works Construction Manager provides the necessary leadership for the coordination and direction of all construction trades and subcontractors within the assigned area and generally serves as the most senior construction authority at the site. This position is typically responsible for numerous contractors, very large or multiple areas, and/or large numbers of tradesmen, multiple shifts; and often including direct oversight or coordination of other contractors/subcontractors.
Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Represent Fluor as the in situ senior staff position directly overseeing and responsible for the work performed by and subcontractors
- Perform on-site management, supervision and coordination of self-performed and subcontracted work
- Execute construction activities to drawings, specifications, schedules, cost, quality, and safety standards
- Control project schedule and cost through effective resource utilization
- Provide input to project schedule development
- Confirm daily and weekly short-range planning to foreman level
- Determine and monitor manpower levels and craft mix
- Monitor productivity and cost and implement corrective actions
- Control change and scope with proper documentation and approvals
- Implement site safety, security procedures and work rules
- Develop and reinforce a strong safety culture
- Assist with labour relations administration
- Manage subcontractor commitments including cost, quality, and schedule
- Plan and manage temporary facilities
- Maintain quality in accordance with design standards
- Administer, train and motivate construction personnel
- Develop, mentor, and provide performance feedback to staff
- Leverage internal and external resources to administer policies consistently across site functions
- Analyze situations and implement appropriate actions
- Organize and prioritize multiple complex projects and tasks
- Plays an active role in the development of the safety culture on the project, making safety a natural part of all work performed, and aligning to the LNGC "Building Safer - Safer Choices" doctrine
- Adhere to and support Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
- Meet expectations on attendance, punctuality, and travel
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Job Requirements- Craft certification, training, and experience appropriate for assignment scope; directly related experience equal to twenty (20) years
- Previous experience as a Construction Manager or General Superintendent, with exposure to piling, underground utilities, underground electrical and cabling, civil drainage systems, and concrete foundations
- Canadian experience a necessity, British Columbia experience desired, and International experience is considered an asset
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, provincial, and national statutes and guidelines
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Salary is based upon experience. Salary Range: $163,500.00 - $302,500.00
The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate's qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
