Description

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Build and maintain strong broker and client relationships to drive long-term partnerships and profitable growth.

Deliver accurate, timely, and professional communications that reinforce Vault's underwriting discipline and value proposition.

Underwrite a complex portfolio with multiple E&O products including new and renewal business in accordance with Vault's underwriting strategy.

Perform general underwriting functions, including submission reviews, coverage analysis, pricing assessment, and establishing policy terms and conditions within authorized limits.

Work collaboratively with the entire team and operate independently as appropriate.

Mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to junior staff, supporting skill development, knowledge transfer, and adherence to underwriting best practices.

Serve as a senior team contributor working collaboratively, promoting a culture of accountability, and continuously seeking areas of improvement.

Communicate with claims staff to review and discuss individual claim files and actively participate in regular departmental claims reviews.

Stay current on major industry issues and developments via trade publications, news media, industry events, industry relationships, etc.

Represent Vault in broker and client meetings, applying strategic judgment and market expertise to structure solutions that balance competitiveness with Vault's underwriting strategy and profitability.

Maintain accountability for portfolio management, including monitoring performance, rate adequacy, loss trends, and profitability, and taking proactive action to achieve underwriting and financial targets.

Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and accountability by proactively managing open items, following up consistently, keeping producers and clients informed throughout the underwriting lifecycle, and seeking timely resolution when issues arise.

You will collaborate as needed with other Vault departments for Commercial division priorities: IT/data, marketing, licensing, actuarial, etc.

Take pride and ownership in providing service within company established guidelines for timeliness, quality, and effectiveness.

Travel to interact and build relationships with brokers and clients and grow your and Vault's presence at industry events.

Preferred qualifications

Bachelor's degree or commensurate relevant experience preferred.

CPCU, RPLU, and/or other relevant insurance designations a plus.

Minimum 6 years of Errors & Omissions underwriting experience, other insurance underwriting experience is a plus

Technical underwriting knowledge and skills reflective of progression in positions of increasing responsibility.

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain producer relationships.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).

Strong attention to detail.

Strong organizational skills.

Must strive to provide service levels that exceed industry standards and demonstrate teamwork across functional areas.

Possess the aptitude to work in a highly competitive market, be innovative in business production and retention; be able to adapt to changing markets and internal requirements.

Strong time management skills, with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.

Resourceful and results driven with strong problem solving and analytical skills.

The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Proficient with Microsoft Office products and internet research tools.

Ability to travel overnight up to 30%.

Base Salary Pay Range*: $115,000 - $140,000

*In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the range of compensation for roles that will be performed in New York. Actual salaries may vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, role and performance. The range listed is just one component of Vault's total compensation package for employees.
